hi guyz,
i've bought a n6600 the 23rd of december 2003, i'm very happy with it(i'm expert with series 60 devices (symbian) ). But u know like all the series 60 devices , it starts to make problem and errors after a while. (5 months). So i've seen that all manufacters have been releasing new phones with great specs, so i'm confused what 2 buy next. so plz vote for a phone and tell me why.

6230... it's a 6600 in a smaller package...
However, it has a smaller screen and no symbian...but heck, I can live with it!
And the 6230 has a 65k screen, bluetooth, mp3 player, xhtml browser, and more!!
I'm getting a 6230 soon....once I get the time to! :P
For me I would take the tel.me 939.
It has a 2.1MP camera, BT, IR, 262K screen. etc and it runs on windows mobile, which has its own pros and cons. The phone for me is in a class of its own. And should cost roughly 550 euro.( according to tel.me's site)
So Price Vs Features this phone rocks!! But from the list i would take the 7610.

im digging the samsung i505. perfect for wat i need. but if u want it now indefinitely the mitac mio 8390. untouchable when it comes to perfection. except no bluetooth but i love it crazy nonetheless
6230 a bad phone. first of its kind thats true, but not good at all
7610 would've been better if it would've had the standard 1.3MP cam

You can't just make dumbass comments and not back them up... no other manufacturers have anything to hold a light to the 6230 on the market at the moment.
I suppose you also realise that 1Mpix (1152 x 864) and 1.3Mpix (1260 x 960) have a tiny perceived increase in quality anyway and that over such a tiny difference, using a different lens could swing it - the sensors are so close anyway.
Though, being on the Sony-Ericsson Unofficial Promo Team I suppose you would be biased. I'm sure if I said the T68i was a bad phone (even being first of it's kind) you would have something to say about it. All I'm saying, is give your points some backing, or it's just fanboys throwing unjustified comments.

The 6230 has a very rich feature set and extremely well implemented, looks nice and feels pretty solid. You can't compare it to a 6600 really, it's a different beast, 6600 is a smartphone, 6230 is a mediaphone (I make that term up). 6600 has no radio or MP3 (or stereo output or sample rates about 16kHz) and is relatively big and heavy but it has a fully blown OS on it, 6230 is basic in terms of OS but it has decent media functionality yet is small and light. That is why I like it and yes, I am a 6600 user and I am a Nokia fan at the same time.
I wasn't comparing the 6230 to the other phones on the list because I haven't seen them yet, and that would be stupid to judge them before they come out. By that token, the 6230 is also the only released phone on that list, so you one would expect the other unreleased ones to be better anyway.

I would choose a 7610 for now untill I see the final version of the device on my hand and try the features, if it doesn't have stereo output, then it's either getting a 6230, or 7700, or wait for the 9500.
6230 - very good and nice fone .. but not symbian :(
7700 - Very ugly device, but I love the feature I might consider living with the phone and make my mind if I want to buy it.
9500 - Super phone, but it will be damn expensive around $900 - $950 :(

I can't believe people are still 'hoping' the 7610 may still have stereo implemented in it. Seeing as Michael already has seen it and said it doesn't, that's pretty conclusive isn't it?
I agree with the rest of the comments though, though trying to compare these phones to each other isn't really possible, it all depends what you want at the end of the day... For example, the 7700 and 9500 are power/smartphones and clearly the target group is not the same as for the 6230.

Seeing is believing. Even if it's true, I will still go and see it my self, and because what Michael interviewed is a prototype, then we can't be sure untill we try the final version. Even if Michael got a quote from an official nokia person, I can wait and see it for my self. I would believe that it's a mono phone if the pop-port wasn't there and if nokia didn't mension anything about MP3/AAC. But bringing those to the subject, and saying mono.. then it doesn't make sence and therefore at this situation, I have to wait and see for my self.

It's not comparing which is the best of them, clearly I'm looking for a powerful symbian phone with mp3 player. and since the 7700 and the 9500 are symbian phones then they are in the list. The 6230 was in the list because it's a nice phone (looks and features). It would be my choice if I decide that the 7700 is not good for me and if I can't wait to get a 9500.

Yeah, I know what you mean about seeing it for yourself, I was a bit like that with the 6600 and now realised that was a mistake (I thought the mono, low-quality sound would be a reasonable substitute for my N-Gage). Personally, I'm not holding my breath on the stereo, I think even if it does have it, the player won't be up to much and may need a dirty hack to get it to function how we'd like it to. If I really want media functions (which I do) then I'm going the N-Gage/6230 route.

The 7700 is supposed to be a media device right?

Yup, it'll cost an arm and a leg...... but given that it has a full features set, it will be worth saving up for. And I like the design of its qwerty keypad more than the sony ericsson "layla".
cheers! :)
