I've not seen the the 7610 anywhere in the retail channel at all - MobileFly and Just Talk don't have it, Vodafone Spain don't have it, Expansys don't have it, ThePhoneHouse Spain don't have it (but they have nicked my picture of the Panasonic X60!) - nobody seems to have this phone anywhere.

Retailers are still saying July, so I guess this is either a scam, or it's a preproduction unit.

I'm more confident about the 5140 being available very soon.. that was announced back in November I think. But the 7610 was only announced in March and we know how Nokia like to make us wait.. except for the 6610i which is just about the year's dullest phone so far.

Last time I checked, the GX-30 didn't have Symbian Series 60 support. Also, video recording is only 400KB, whereas the 7610 can do up to 10 minutes. So no, the GX-30 is not much much better than the 7610.

let me refresh you memory, GX30 has the best screen(GSM)262K TF CGS and one of the best cameras.
I think the choose between GX30 and 7610 is made by your neededs, i cant find any disadvantage to the GX30 except the OS

Agree with Sid, look at what you can do with a 7610, and look what you can do with a GX30. videos only 400K ? .. video recording is important to me, 10 mins are long enough to keep a smile on my face. 262K screen? not important yet. is it Nokia ? NO. Is it a smart phone or a Symbian? NO. 7610 Camera ? it's good enough to make me see a big big good picture.

the GX30 has very limitted features, while the 7610 offers much much more.

you probably never saw GX30's screen, its the most amazing screen ive ever seen...
I prefer to take shorter videos but with the highest quality.
and to me. the name nokia is disadvantage

yeh... whatever turns u on!!! sharp is doing well just because they are with vodafone.. most of the ppl i see with sharps say "oh look, ive got the new vodafone live phone" .. and when i ask what model they have they say, "oh, i dont know, the new one"... while ppl with nokias say "i have the new NOKIA".. so what was that u were sayin about nokia??? i used a gx30 and i dont like it.. its a waste of the 1mp camera... and i bet there are better screens than the gx30's..

Let's not turn this in to a brand name fight.

I know the Sharp GX-30 is a very good phone. I also think the 7610 is a very good phone. If you want to have the best screen on the market and MP3 playback, go for the GX-30. If you want Symbian application support and longer video recording go for the 7610. I don't care what brand name is on the phone, simply what features it posseses. Both phones are very good, but different people will find different needs for each. It's arrogant to say one is much much better than the other because that is simply your viewpoint.

Any more "Nokia sucks", "I want my next Nokia phone to father my child", "Ericsson kills Nokia", and this topic will be closed.

To put this into a very reasonable way:

Nokia is has market captured. Because of its sheer quantity it posseses there are much more people who buy just because everyone else is also buying them (yes, there are people like that). And because of much larger dealer network and easier availibility. Repairs are also much cheaper. And because there are many more NOKIA's so software developers tend to get biased on this.

I personally dont hold any preference.

To get back to the point in question with this 7610. What is the big deal with it anyway? Ok, so it's kinda cool to have a new phone before anyone else does but it's also sad (and yes I have been there). There are so many better ways to impress someone (or some girl/person) than some flashy phone and just to have bragging rights about something no-one else has, but give it a month and the streets will be crawling with the 7610 and at a lot less than you paid back then. And, to bring it back to reality, all at the risk that you may never get the phone because it's not technically released, and the chances of someone having it at this point in time are incredibly low. And for that fact, if it were a prototype, selling it is a) illegal, b) it will have bugs, c) begs the question, where the hell did it come from?

I only feel so strongly about it because someone conned me out of money recently and I got it back by some clever working (yes, I conned some conmen) and I don't want to see someone else fall victim.

Don't let your technological greed win you over! It's what Ebay scammers thrive on, a techno-person's lust for something new and the bragging rights and they play on naive victims who are suckers for shiny, rare gadgets.

Don't be a statistic of the Ebay scammers, don't be sucked in, if it's too good to be true, the fact is, it will be - and I don't care if the guy is an Ebay Power Seller or will ship the phone once you have sent half the money; account hacking is rife on there. Be smart about it. Don't fall victim.

Well at seems as though it was a hoax anyway , the seller has withdrawn the item form sale and has not yet emailed me back , If he did infact have the phone i would suspect Nokia traked him down and forced him to do so , possibly because it was a prototype or sample which they do not allow to be sold.

See I told you it was too good to be true, one day I was just surfing on ebay and saw someone selling 9500 and that too for a very low cost. I asked deviant about it, he warned me off. That guy was asking for half payment. And yes had very good ratings!

Luckely I don't buy my stuff from those type of sites like e-bay, I'd rather pay $560 or over than getting scammed by a pro theif in e-bay. Don't trust them, and don't like the site either.

Umm, Well I dont think I am going to buy that one now. Rather wait and buy a 6600 because its rate is going to get down more now. And yes the MP cam is cool. But as I feel that the OS is still the same old its not fast enought to cope up with MP images. I dont like to wait for 3~5 secs for a pic to open.

Lets hope for a 402 Mhz Symbian OS 8 Phone from Nokia soon!
