ive noticed that the complaints abt the N6230 have seem to have stopped already. Is it because people have switched to a different fone already or is it that people have just found a way to go around the problems?

the N6230 to date has all the features that i want on a fone. its basically like my 6610 ,except it already has bluetooth and a camera.

im still quite undecided whether to buy it or not... shelling out 23 thousand pesos is no joke. ive already went to a mobile fone store and tested the keypad, and i think i can live with it....

any comments or suggestions?

Pick up and place a 6600 alongside a 6230 and you will quickly realise that it's the smallest most feature-packed phone on the market and is the closest you will get to a smartphone without actually getting a smartphone like the 6600. Sure, there are some downfalls but they are pretty minor and the keypad isn't all that bad at all. If you currently use a 6610, the 6230 will completely blow it out of the water in terms of better screen, more memory, camera, Bluetooth, MMC slot with MP3 and radio, the list goes on. It also happens to look quite nice as well. The only competition it may receive is from Sony Ericsson's K700 but until then it's in a league of its own. If you think you will use all the features I highly recommend it (and just for the record, I'm a firm believer in Symbian phones but the 6230 is really *that* good).

I was about to buy the 6600, but after reading DEViANT's reply, I'm confused, does the 6230 have opera internet browser, why is it cheaper than the 6600? I need your advice.

I didn't mean to confuse but I was basically saying the 6230 offers just about everything you could really want from a non-smartphone. However to my knowledge you can't get Opera for it, not that it worked that well when I tried to use it on my N-Gage and 6600 anyway so I'm not sure how important it is to you. The 6600 is cheaper than the 6230 at the moment where I live but if it is more expensive, it's because technologically, it's a more complex and expensive device to manufacture I suspect.

I've checked the price at www.expansys.com in the UK it's almost the same price but in USA the 6600 is 100$ higher than 6230, I need opera because I like to browse internet the same way I do on my Pc, is that possible with the 6230?

I don't think it is possible but the Opera features on the browser I was using on my phone (6600 and N-Gage) were pretty poor and lots of pages didn't load or work properly. You would be better off getting a cheaper phone in that case and a cheap PDA - i.e. HP Ipaq H1940 or Dell Axim ($200-ish?) and then linking them over Bluetooth or IR perhaps? That is, if you want a proper browser (and the Windows Powered PDAs do offer a very good implementation of Internet Explorer).

or you could look at a P800 or P900 - Opera on either of those is a brilliant mobile browser.

well the first qustion you have to ask yourself.

Is size a matter.

Yes... then proceed to #2
No... then proceed to #1

#1
Well if size is not a matter to you then you have the whole world of smartphones in front of you like 6600,3660,sx1 etc..

And i hope I dont have to elobrate much on the capabilities of S60. And if it works for you there is nothing better

#2
Ohh so you are choosy on size... the 6230 is best Nokia has to offer in S40 and such a small size. Go out and buy it.

Hope I have been of Help.

Manz

And yes I think you'd rather go in for a 6600!

but to repeat, the poster emphasised a need for Opera and mobile browsing. For this the 6230 (and in fairness any similarly sized device) is pretty much useless unless coupled with a PDA, which means two devices and more expense.

Meanwhile the 6600 has very little size advantage over the P900, and also - as other posters have already pointed out - Opera isn't much use on that either. So, if Opera's really what you want, P900 is the way to go. That really is a phone capable of "proper" browsing, which seems to be what the poster is after.

I realise this is a nokia forum and there's going to be tendency to suggest a nokia way of doing this, but in this case it seems the P900 is the obvious answer - sorry.

Hence I suggested something like a SE T610 (very cheap nowadays but very functional) and a PDA linked over IR or Bluetooth. It's cheap and practical and is much better than Opera on a cell phone, plus the PDA will allow for expansion later and there are some really great apps and games out there for it.

thanks for the vote of confidence DEViANT,
but what abt the "problems" being encounted in previous threads/posts? i think email problem has been solved already... does it really hang when using bluetooth? and how does it fare with bluetooth headfones? N6230 is not much circulated around here, so it makes me wonder why....

I am still waiting on Vodafone to get mine  in stock for me...

Though due to the high uptake on this phone, I suspect Nokia will release a firmware patch on it very soon to fix any problems.

i hope so..right now, the price is stll kinda steep for me to gamble on buying one now, with all the "problems and bugs" being reported...
..even if it has all the features i want already on a nokia celfone.

You can take mine deviant, I dont like it a bit. Its a crappy phone. Its perfect and all with the specs. But it just dont "hit" me. It lacks class! Anyways there might me many people who think I was wrong, but come to think off it there was too much hype surrounding it and now I think Its not living up, maybe if there was not all that hype and threads with 10000+ views maybe I would have fell in love with it.

Would xchange it for 2 Ngages! Lolz!

I didnt like the feel. It works perfectly though. I just kept it back in the box and am looking for a buyer, As if I use it, it will get scratched and all. Its just that it does not click with me :(
