I heard through the grapevine (http://www.infoworld.com/article/03/10/02/HNmssmartphone_1.html) that on 8th October there will be an announcement about a worldwide release of a new Microsoft Smartphone-powered mobile.
As to the identity of this mobile, it's kept very secret. There's loads of rumours and speculation about the manufacturer (including Sony Ericsson's involvement with Smartphone software), but nothing is confirmed. It could well end up being a mobile we've all heard of already, although there seems to be a lot of buzz & excitement regarding this announcement so it could be big news.
We'll have to wait & see.
Anyone heard/know what the mobile will be...?

Thats interesting! I havent heard anything about SE involement in an MS phone. Any link? That could be acool thing. I think Samsung or Sienmens is the only current comapny(s) that offer phones from nearly all OS brands. IF sony were to imcorporate phone technology into the UX50 I would be sold!
But back to the topic at hans... the 8th is creepingup - hopefully more rumors/facts/photos will surface! :)

A link? Click the word "grapevine"!
Sony Ericsson is a long-shot. They're too into Symbian. But it's still a possibility.

only a day away...
click here (http://217.160.215.102/index.php?itemid=1549) for actual clues as to who's releasing the device. Apparently, these guys had an email sent through revealing what the surprise is.
check here (http://www.coolsmartphone.com/index.php?option=news&task=viewarticle&sid=348) also as they reveal who it is- supposedly.
If it is who they say it is, then it's a bit of a let down it terms of big players in the mobile market. Then again, they may surprise us...
I wonder if it's like the whole 8march2003.com thing - it's all going to be a big conspiracy and clever PR marketing and that.
You watch, it'll be a smartphone shaped like a book.

It was Sierra Wireless! The 'Voq Professional'. CHECK THIS OUT (http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/4168.html) ! Quite a neat phone. Interesting book-like querty keypad. But NO BLUETOOTH! Why why why. I just don't get it. Surely Business-types/ Smartphone users are just begging for a smartphone device of high specs to include bluetooth. Sierra Wireless have just shot themselves in the foot.
