I still prefer the SX1.

It runs the risk of over-hyping the P810/900 which'll lead to heavy disappointment when it finally does come out. No doubt with all the build-up for this mobile that the vast majority will say "What was all the fuss about? It's not that much better than the P800. And the camera & screen isn't a patch on the Sharp GX-20".

Can I get an amen, brother!

This is sooooooo going to happen.

That is true most people will probably over hype the phone.
But in my case I was originally going to buy a P800 but when I saw pictures of the P810/900 I decided to wait because it has everything a P800 has plus it looks better, has a 65k screen and a video record app. So I’m just treating it as an upgraded P800

My old contract on my gx10 is running out at christmas, so how much do you think the p900 will be with a vodafone contract with a new number. Is the p900 the daddy of phones??

The Roo

Well, since your GX-10 contract runs out Christmas, you should have quite a difficult choice on your hands with all the high-quality mobiles available at that time.

Go ask your local mobile store for a quick play on the P800. If you don't mind the size and the stylus operation (it's not all stylus-operated) and like the features it offers, then wait about another month for the P810/900- 'coz it will rock! What's another 3-5 weeks, right? As for price- well, I wouldn't like to say. At a guess, £300-350 with contract? Just a guess. Can't remember what the P800 first sold at as a point of reference.

If all you want is a fully-featured mobile without paying for extras you'll hardly ever use, then go for the GX-20. You've got the GX-10 so you know the system already; and you'll arguably have the best camera/screen combination on the market + video!

Other mobiles to consider are Moto's V600, Nokia's 6600 and Sony Ericsson's Z600. All are quality mobiles. I know it's a tough decision but, in all honesty, you won't be disappointed with whichever you go with. You really won't.

I have had one for the last few days now, first impressions are that it looks better than the P800.
The key difference is the Videocamera, aside from that it is a P800, i will admit it looks a lot better that the P800 and the screen quality seems to be better.
Would it go out and buy one...a difficult one... but really NO......i usually use a T610 and with the exception on the internet browser i would happily go back to it, if i had to use a handset that is of the same ilk that i would buy a P800 get the Oplayer video program and save myself a few quid :)

Definitely a phone I want to get... Does anybody have info on...

1. Where it will be available first?

2. Guestimate on whether "unlocked" versions will be readily available.

3. Are there any retailers, that will readily sell this phone without a service plan? I have contacts worldwide, so I'm not limited to one country for a "supplier".

Thanks to all

Dear Michael,

Hey dude, when are you gonna be getting a unit of the P900? Would love to read your first review on it as you did a very good job reviewing the P800 when it first came out. It certainly convinced me to go get one! :D

arsa

well sorry " dude" im not gonna get a p900 now. i was going to buy one before but ive changed my mind. i want to buy the Z600 for now and save up money to go back to Japan next summer so sorry =) i wont be posting a review of the p900 for a while. BUT dont let that stop you from getting one, although you should remember that the P900 is only an upgrade version of the p800. it just looks cooler. smaler, and has some better programs and utilities. but its basically the same phone.

SE is supposed to annonce P900 at 21:th Oct. By the way, do you know when you will be able to test HBH-200 (is it out yet ??) ?

Michael

Michael

SE's US Marketing Director just told me she could get me one in about 4 weeks.

no matter about all the pictures you've seen.
no matter about the various 'reviews' you've read all over the net.
no matter about all the news clips & exclusives.

FACT: This mobile has NOT been officially announced (let alone released). As far as Sony Ericsson headquarters are concerned, it doesn't exist and will disavow all knowledge of it.

FACT: There is no set 'announcement' or 'release date' for this mobile. There are several rumours floating around, but NOTHING is set.

Those are sad facts (I really really really want one), but they are true. :(

Someone lend me a tenner, it's my round...

ooh ooh ! HBH-200? Yes please! I want a review! What? 4 weeks?! No, now! Gimme gimme gimme!

And HBH-65. Cheers.

>You d'man.

>>No, YOU d'man and that's the problem.

Monday is the announcement. I just read the press release an hour ago.

We'll fill everybody in on the details on Monday.

Orange UK have already removed the P800 from their direct sales. This leads me to believe that they are actually testing the phone as we speak.

blimey, monday they're announcing it? and you only read the press release 40 mins after i went on about how nothing was set? :D

are you talking about the ctia 2003-sands expo? running through se's schedule during this event, i couldn't see any indication that they are going to unveil any new mobiles- on the monday.

however, running down the schedule to wednesday, i see that they will be exhibiting "new products", and if you scroll down a little bit more you can see a photo of se's stand.
notice anything of interest here? look at the products plastered all over their designer partitions. specifically to the left of the photo. is it me, or is that a BIG-ARSE P900?!?

WOOBWOOBWOOBWOOBWOOBWOOBWOOBWOOB!!!!

see se's svhedule HERE (http://www.sonyericssonevents.com/wirelessit/schedule.html) . The website for the expo is HERE (http://www.wirelessit.com/general/) .
