Hi.
I've seen alot of posts about warranties on all Nokia phones. But I bought mine over the internet on carphonewarehouse.com and I dont have a receipt. A few questions.
1. what should I do if I have a problem?
2.Also what paperwork do I need for a warranty?
3.And if my phone is under warranty, Is it free to get my firmware updated if my phone has a problem and even if it doesnt?
4. Will CPW help me even if i don't have insurance?
Thanks for any help.

Good questions. I'd also like to know if the Nokia Warranty still works if you buy the phone over eBay.

I think you'll get warranty if bought your phone from an authorized nokia dealer and also telecoms that offer handsets bundled with thier service....

1. just go to a Nokia service center, they can get all the data about warranty read out to the phone. Date of first usage?, is it already been repaired?, have there been sw updates allready? etc.
2. no papers to fill in, You get a recieve/paper that you're mobile is in hands of Nokia...
3. A software update is free only if you have problems with your mobile. Software bugs etc, just tell them some typical bugs like reboot, T9 problems, etc and then you'll get a free SW version on your phone. With some attendences of a service center it's not needed, but other wanna have a reason.
4. there is a difference between Warranty and insurance. If you don't have a insurance they will help you with problems that fall under warranty.

kristof.vanriet is completely right. You just take a phone in and the data is read from it (or from an online database in some cases - like when the phone won't boot). You get 15 months warranty from the manufacture date, which is designed so the extra 3 months should cover the time it's spent sitting around in the shop and factory.
Therefore, yes, Ebay phones should also be covered. Before you buy if possible, get the seller to enter the *#92702689# code on their Nokia phone (doesn't work on Symbian) and give you the date from it, normally in XXXX (mmyy - series 30) or XXXXXX (mmyyyy - series 40/+).

No, that gives you the software version and date, it has nothing to do with the warranty.

At my Nokia service centre they were very friendly and didnt even require a receipt to get software updated. The first time I went in there was no problem, i just wanted to get rid of 3's settings and get the network mode function back on my 7600, when i went back my phone had self distructed and they did it all for free no hassles and i get a new battery too!

Only problem is that I don't know where my nearest service centre is. Can someone give me a link on the Nokia site that tells you where it is? I've seen the page before, I just can't find it now that I need it.
