The latest talk on the town is from consumer action, who apparently state that cell phone company's doing contracts such as Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile are cheating their clients without any justification. Text messages are being charged at over 20 cents per message and that is a rise of 10 cents since 2005 which is far above inflation. They also charge their clients up to 45cents per minute if you go over your monthly call limit which in my opinion is outrageous. Then if you want to cancel the contract they charge you between $150-$200 and sometimes only in the last six months of the contract term. These company's renew your contract without any written authority and then won't release you from the extra time period which you never applied for in the beginning. When you read the fine print you find out that they can increase your fees and there is nothing you can do about it. I suggest everyone cancel their contracts and go to pay-as-you-go type telecommunications. pre paid's are far cheaper than contract rates and you don't get tied down. I'm going for a Net 10 phone, the beauty of them is that they only charge 10 cents per minute with no exceptions, that also includes roaming charges. I understand that Net 10 is cheaper than Tracfone if you make a lot of calls every month.
