we wont be selling it for at least another 2 weeks sim free as a company we tend to wait to see how high the demand is.
but im sure by next week we should have it sim free.

Thanks for the quick reply :)

Do you think that when you do offer it SIM-free it'll be around the £300 mark?

I was thinking of getting it from CPW but your comment about CPW releasing 80% testing phones has put a lot of doubt in my mind.

i would saying it would be about 299.99 as the cost price is suprisingly lower than the previous 6220. I dont see that it would be any more they may try 350 depending on the demand. hope this helps.

Why would you buy a phone simfree from a high street retailer? I have to ask even if it is stepping on someone's toes. They overcharge, Ebay is far better for new and used. I buy and sell through Ebay and I've never had issues with any phones I've bought or sold.

I agree Phones4U is better than CPW in customer service and my CPW 3 7600 did crash (and almost quite literally burn as it overheated) after about 4 hours. I only got the 7600 from them to try it out and it was a reasonable price anyway (£179.99, now £149.99). Also the guy in CPW Oxford gave me serious gip about my E700 saying unlocking it myself voided the warranty, which is utter BS - also said it had to have been done by a laptop and there was no other way... idiot. The Phones4U guy did actually attempt to help with the E700 (even though it was CPW's) so I gave him the unlock code as a way of thanks. I have been the victim of over-pressuring me into a buy once or twice in Phones4U, especially on 3 phones and I especially resent that fact that many of them know less about me than the phone they are selling (apparently the A835 has an SD slot, news to me...). If you really insist on a high street retailer, they're probably the ones to go with, but like I said support is probably just as good on Ebay (for non-grey imports) and the price is definitely better.

Your warranty is often provided by Nokia themselves so in the rare event of the phone going wrong, taking it into them is sometimes faster than taking it to the shop (if they send it off). Give it a week or so and 6230s will probably be selling around the £200 mark on Ebay for new handsets.

Thanks a lot for your input.

While I do use ebay a lot, I'm just not comfortable making expensive purchases for stuff that could go wrong. Buying from a real world or online store would give my much more peace of mind.

£100 is a lot of money for piece of mind though so I will give your point some thought.

Do you know of any online retailers that could match or come close to that price?

I use Ebay for everything - choose a reputable seller (I'd like to think of myself as one, no buyer complaints!) with a good rating who has sold stuff like that before and you can't really go wrong. In fact, support is usually better than the shops.

£100 would be good for peace of mind... if buying from the high street meant peace of mind. To be honest, there are some proper tossers behind the tills in some places and they know less about the phone than we do, and ultimately what they say goes - so if they're having a bad day then you might just not be seeing your phone for a good while. It's totally arbitrary - there is in fact no benefit the way I see it from a shop (unless it's under contract perhaps - Ebay is no good for contracts really, not that I've tried, but if a shop screws you on a contract - you just stop paying, simple).

I have purchased laptops and everything from Ebay with no issues to date, must have saved in the thousands with using it. It gets my seal. High street shops are more useful for trying the phones out, that's about it.

Oh, maybe someone who owns one can tell me, do you have to use a Pop-port headset with the 6230 for MP3 or is there an adaptor like for the N-Gage (or even a 2.5mm jack) so we can use normal and decent headphones?

gangstar

yeah the nokia ones you get with the n-gage and 3300 are absolutey pathetic. The dongle from 3.5mm to 2.5mm is a lifesaver. I hope there is on with the 6230 as its a great phone and I dont want nokia to let me down.

Yes, the 3300 is let-down by its inability to use normal headphones (I hate inner-ear, they always fall out) and it's crippled Pop-port which doesn't allow a camera or data transfer of pictures to the phone (so you can only change wallpaper with what you have or download from WAP).

Turns out the dongle for the N-Gage also works on most other phones (like the Orange SPV, which is a bonus, especially as I managed to 'borrow' a spare dongle!).

So gangstar, are you going to get a 6230? I'm so tempted but Symbian is such a good reason not to get one. As much as I'd love a small, sleek phone again, I like what I can do with my N-Gage a lot more - the radio function (which I only recently started using) has added so much more to it in as well.

nah 6230s not for me. As much as I like its looks, and its sleekness and smoothness (drool) No symbian and small screen put me off it. Its too expensive for me too and anyway my bros buying it so I can take pics with it and send them to my phone.

I'm waiting for the 7610 with its MP camera, movie director, lifeblog, great looks small size and coolness. Thats the phone for me. Shame about RS-MMC tho, I cant use my own mmcs. Youll probably be able to play n-gage games on there as people do on the 6600 and SX1. Wouldnt that be cool. N-gage on 7610 (more drooling)

Yes, I suppose so but apparently the other Nokias cannot handle multiple simultaneous keypresses like the N-Gage can and also the shape just isn't right for gaming, but that said, it is a cool concept - I haven't actually seen anyone do it in front of me yet (I know it can be done). Do the genuine Nokia game MMCs work in the other phones or not?

first o2 and voda. I got mine today off ebay cost 250. Really happy with it and the screen size isnt a probthe camera is really good. I like seviants points. There are alot of wankers behind many tills but im not one of them. Ive just been offered a job as a rep for vodafone uk. I think im gonna take it a spread my knowledge around the midlands. I want a 7610 but its as big as the 6600 and apparently the cam isnt as great in comparison to the gx30 which is a shame but we'll have to wait and see.
