Does anyone know if Nokia is working on the next generation of the Communicator series?

I can't tell you much, but yes they have been working on it for quite a long time.
The last time I spoke to them about it, which was at CeBIT in March, they said we would probably see it sometime in Q1 2004.
I'm really looking forward to it. I loved the 9210, even though it was an absolute brick.

i thought, as did many people , that the 6600 was the replacement for the communicator. i am happy to hear otherwise. i am now at a stand still, having liked the idea of the treo 600, but loved the old school communicator???

based on what you know would you go for the new SE p810/900 or wait for a new communicator?

I don't know enough details on the communicator to really say.
I do prefer a keyboard to a stylus, though. Nokia has promised something very interesting in terms of a new communicator.... My guess is that I will prefer the data entry method from the Nokia, but the feature set of the SE.
Which will leave me in a similar situation as now. Nothing will satisfy me.

Some rumours have been circulating that a new communicator would be announced at the annual Nokia Mobile Internet Conference that will take place on the 29th and 30th of October 2003 in Nice, France.
Again these are only rumours.
Occording to some people in Finland the new communicator would support Bluetooth and GPRS (what everybody expects) and a 65k display. No other details have reached me unfortunalty.
Keep you informed,
NokiaInsider.
Rumours pretty much indicate Nice would be the place for the next Communicator. I don't expect a brick anymore. The phone should have completely new form-factor. Stylish - don't know, but small.
