Kinda funky. Doubt theres a camera but it is still a possibility. Probably using 6600s firmware. I want symbian 7.0 and series 60 2.0. Probably hotswap as the guys on that site are saying with the arrow at the back. Looks nice and its a bit smaller.
262k colour TFT <- fingers crossed!:D :D :D

Well it does have a 'Camera' option on the stand-by pic.

And there is no camera, it's just a prototype and a sw of another phone...

Which if all this is true, makes the phone a bit ****e because camera is almost essential in this day and age and the N-Gage is the only Symbian phone without a camera now. By the looks of it the MP3 and radio have gone walkies too. It looks like it has 3300 written all over it to me from the battery cover to the keypad layout. The design is nice but I'm not giving up my N-Gage for that if it has no MP3 and radio, especially not for the lack of a camera (though the external MMC socket may pave the way for an external camera to be implemented, which is still rubbish...).

Looks like Nokia had best get working on the N-Gage 3 pretty sharpish...

The screen appears to be the same size which makes me think Nokia did a survey of people then continued to completely ignore everything we said and asked for on the new phone (i.e. bigger screen, keep the music functions, camera, etc.). And the bet that Nokia decided to ditch the 65K colour screen as well just to provoke more controversy (actually having said that all new Symbians are 65K now so it would actually mean they'd have gone out of their way if this was true).

Oh dear, Nokia, oh dear...

By the way, anyone else noticed the (approx.) 10 increment battery and antenna bars (or is that just bad focus), and what about the antenna symbol on the hash key (can we turn the phone function off with that now or something). I also wonder if Nokia had the sense to make the N-Gage bootable without a sim card...

Um, I'm guessing it's not an antenna symbol, but a Chinese character (for zhong, which means middle, or centre). You see them on Nokia phones sold in China, Taiwan, Singapore, HK etc etc. I have it on all my Nokias, except for my 6110.

p.s. NO CAM?? No... :(

Just to provoke more controversy, just to piss people off? Just for the fun of it? Lol.. dude, you are funny.

Let's wait and see the specs and then, and let's not forget to do that, compare them with the retail price.

Btw, to contradict myself and to speculate a bit more :p : look at the key under the 8 key. Could that lower roundish grey dot have a music note symbol in it? Compare to the N-Gage 1, where mp3 player key is music note symbol.. ahh, can't wait to see the official announcement and all the raving and screaming after it! :D

Where Phoenix81 got the pics:

According to this the Ngage2 has a 65k screen.

Yes, well funny I may be but I follow this market closely as it's what I deal with and frankly, if all the rumours I've heard (yes, I said rumours so they may be just that, hearsay and all) from various places are true then Nokia are attempting to build a device at very low cost with no music features, hot swappable MMCs, no camera and no bigger screen. So yes, to me it does look like they are attempting to do things to piss people off, because scrapping all this is stupid enough.

The N-Gage sold when it came out for £200 because it was packed with features, and now using a normal holding method and adding in all the missing bits, it may have become the ultimate phone, but this one we hear about may turn out to be worse than the current model. Unless Nokia are waiting until the N-Gage 3 for this or something?

Anyway, with regards to that antenna symbol, if it were Chinese, it appears to be the only Chinese character on the keypad, so I guess we'll see. And also the 8 key appears to have TUV printed on it and not a music logo, the dot seems to be glare. If anything, on the 0 key there appears to be a radio logo (the same design as the one on the current N-Gage). Like I said, I guess we'll see, but if Nokia are trying to build a cheap device, you can bet it won't have a 65K colour screen.

Anyone care to speculate what that circular white key with what looks like a tick symbol might do?

Yes, I meant under the 8 key, sorry. There seems to be some symbols on that key, obviously being the 0 key (stupid me). Could indeed be the radio symbol. Radio is probably cheaper to include than a mp3 player?

In any case, let's wait for the specs and, again, compare them to the price. If the price is, e.g. $199, then leaving out e.g. the 65k screen might be justifiable (they are in this for profit after all, at least in the longer run; and to compete with GBA; not just to piss people off - IMO ). :) If it would be $99, then leaving out pretty much everything would be ok. :D

Ah. Well that would be the only Chinese symbol, and the rest are Chinese strokes. That tick on the number 3 would be one. There should be a Chinese stroke on buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. (Inc. #). Only those because that's all that is needed to create Chinese text.

What about the 6 key, i've got some market keypads that are from HK no doubt and the 6 key has a symbol that looks like an upside down Nike logo??!

So how many Chinese symbols is it possible to create using so few keys, and how many taps are needed per key?

Er. I think there maybe another one on key 6, but not on my p900. Will check on my nokias though. Anyway chinese characters are made up for strokes and stuff, so you just key in the strokes that are in the character, and it comes up with lots of possibilities. An easier way (which is how we type chinese on computers in my mandarin class) is to just type the han yu ping yi. Which means to type in how you say the word. For example if I were to write 'ma' it would come up with all the characters that are 'ma'. (which are hundreds...)
