motorola razr

hi i was just wondering a friend of mine has a moto razr and when she has the phone on and she closes it on the outer display the clock stays lit like the backlight goes off but the clock doesnt any idea why? it just started happening a couple days ago shes had the phone from sept 06 brand new here is a pic of what it looks like:

any ideas would be greatly appreciated
