Hey. Uh...my 7650 has been acting very oddly. When I turned it on yesterday a message comes up saying 'telephone error'. I open messages it says 'message error' and goes back to message. However it won't let me key in anything. I open camera it says 'camera error'. i open images it says 'image error'. I open contacts....you get the point. Don't know what happened, but I lent that phone to my sis the day before and she came back to me with that...claims she didn't do anything:rolleyes:. I don't believe her as she has broken my 7250, 3100, 3310.

Dude, no wonder you have so many phones.

Sorry, you'll need someone more knowledgeable than me to fix your problem.

Perhaps you could have your phone fixed by a Nokia service center near your area. Offhand, maybe you could try removing and reinserting your sim card (it worked on one of my old phones once, but I honestly don't know if this will actually work).

Hey. Yea I was going to go to the Nokia care centre today, but just got too lazy.:) Yup, well I did the sim reinserting thingy and it still does that. Hmm, I wonder how much it will cost to get it fixed. I bought it without a warranty because it was much cheaper. Oh well thanks anyway :)

Tisk tisk tisk. Always buy a phone with warranty! You never know what will happen. And always buy your phone from your service provider or an authorized dealer.

Haha, as oppose to a shop no one has ever heard of in the Philippines :D... I've learned by lesson...

Haha, everyone who's lived in the Philippines has learned their lesson...the hard way

And the lesson we've learned today is . . .

. . . never lend your phone to your sister!

Have it flashed. It will fix it for sure.

Latest for NHL-2NA/7650 : V5.06

Ah. I've got a question. If I have it flashed, do I lose all data on the phone?

Yeap.
All data lost. You can back up **** with Nokia PCSuite i think...

Oh man. But I have nothing to connect it to the PC. Guess I'll buy a USB link or something. Anyone know how much one will cost? How about a bluetooth link? (don't like IR, so won't bother with that.) :)

Bluetooth dongles will set you back around P2500 here in the Philippines...

I haven't seen any USB links here for phones...
You may just have to get an IR thingy...

Bluetooth costs about £20 max. over here on Ebay or the like. In fact, IR is pretty cheap now, but I'm wondering how you are going to activate the IR/Bluetooth if your phone is as busted as it sounds to convince it to backup data to PC Suite.

Anyway, ironically, I had my 7650 flashed to erase all my data and it remained on there (much to my surprise) so I don't think flashing it removes the data if done properly.

Forget backing up, maybe the problem will arise again after you do.

USB does not exist on the 7650, it doesn't have a Pop-Port, only a charger port. And a headset on the top.

Thanks for your replies guys. I just realised about the USB link, haha, how stupid of me.

Silly you...
Just get a bluetooth thingy or an IR

IR since its cheaper. I have no idea if it can go back up the thing. 1 because of the error messages, and 2 because my PC suite is all in Chinese! I can't find an English button. Got it in the Philippines, but it was an import from Taiwan.

you can download the Nokia PC Suite in their site.... but i heard it is troublesome, the pc suite i mean, in terms of connectivity..... the only nokia i ever tried using the pc suite was the 6210, and it work like a charm.... i don't know about 7650

Yes, you can do a complete IR backup of the phone using PC Suite. Just have to enable MRouter on the PC and IR on the 7650 (assuming you can do it), I've done it before. The software creates a folder with all the files from your phone in the format, 1.dat, 2.dat, etc. so you don't know what the files are though you can put them back onto the same 7650 again. I managed to trick it to go onto a new 7650 by changing the IMEI numbers in PC Suite (it performs backups by IMEI).

You can get the latest PC Suite from the net (and in English) at:
http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/software/Nokia_PCSuite_en.exe

Linked from: http://www.nokia.com/popupDisclaimer?productId=36&categoryId=19&disclaimerId=9&fileId=3496&languageId=1

Worst comes to worst, just flash it anyway, like I said, it shouldn't delete the files on it anyway - didn't on mine.

What type of stuff did you have on your phone anyway? Is it that important that they aren't deleted?

Ah. Well there are quite a few apps that I want to keep there. Since I didn't have any thing it link it to the computer I downloaded alot of apps like IrRemote, Zipfile, Bounce, Ringtone Studio, anti-Mosquito and others over GPRS. Which in turned gave me a HUGE bill at the end of the month. So I didn't pay so much for GPRS for nothing!. But now that I will buy a bluetooth thingy-ma-jig I can just get them from computer. Oh well.
