I have a T610 and will probably upgrade to a P900 in thefuture when I do upgrade. I want bluetooth connectivity on my computer and I am going to buy a laptoop soon. I want to make sure that my new lap top will be completly compatible with my phone. I want to use my laptop at Hot Spot locations, have my phone double as a modem, and have bluetooth. What things do I look for in the laptop to make sure it can do those things. The only thing I have now that the laptop can connect to is 802.11b So it needs that too. Any technical jargon i need to learn or should I just look for Bluetooth, and connect my laptop to my phone or a card when i want to use hotspot or have it double as the internet. I am kinda confused and dont want to have it not work after i drop a few hundred on a new laptop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have an external bluetooth module (D-Link Bluetooth DBT-120) for my G4 iBook.

Hey Austin,

I think your confusign several different technologies.

1. Hot Spots usually refer to Wi-Fi and your lap top has that ability with the 802.11b, though you will have to find compatible hot spots. Most are 802.11a or g, with g being backward compatible with a but not b.

2. Internet with our phone. I use my Nokia 6310i to get on the GPRS network and use bluetooth between my Palm Tugsten T and my phone. Works nicely. Should be able to do a similar thing getting a Bluetooth USB adapter for you laptop, or a CF card if you laptop has one of those.

3. If you want to use your phone as a modem, a lot will depend on you cell phone provider. For example, AT&T doesn't allow your cell phone to be used as a modem. It has to do with technology issues they don't support.

Hope this helps.
