first post!

had a problem with my w800i for awhile now and its REALLY annoying. Basically the camera turns on even when the shutter is closed, and this happens really often aswell. A few times its been sitting on the desk next to me and the camera turns itself on.

anyone have some suggestions? cheers.

With the W800i there's a little switch under the back cover that is activated by the slider for the camera shutter (there's a little stump of plastic underneath it). I dare say this has been damaged somehow (either if the phone's been dropped or just from age). It could also be the slider itself has been damaged and is activating the switch intermittantly.

One other thing to mention also is that the camera on the K750i and W800i can be activated by long-pressing the shutter key. If this has been damaged or misaligned it can also cause issues.

If you want to try and fix it urself you'll need a very tiny phillips head screwdriver and a set of torx screwdrivers too. Both of these can be found at a hardware store or hobby shop.

Hope this helps :D

Sounds like software issues. Try updating the phones software using the Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) and see if that helps. Make sure you back up your phone's contents before doing this because if it's a major update then it will start you from scratch.
