I picked up my brand new N95 yesterday. My only gripe is with the text message style- I find it too small and faint. Can I reformat it to make it bolder/clearer? Thanks.

If you go Menu, Tools, Settings, General, Personalisation, Display and change "Font Size" to large it will make your text messages bolder. However it will also make nearly all of your menu's bolder too. I haven't yet found a way to make it bold by itself but that should help in the long run.

Thanks for that VodaMatt. I was hoping there might be some easy way to import a better font- I've never had a larger screen yet the display is relatively poor. (And it's not just my eyesight deteriorating). It's amazing that for all its sophistication basic stuff like fonts and ringtones are still firmly back in the last generation. Ah well, the camera was the lure for me and that's a winner.

Well, in defense of the N95, most people use or buy their own ringtones, so what's the point of investing in expensive ringtones?

About difficult to read fonts: as mentioned by Matt, on the N95, you can increase to font size to improve legibility.
It's also worth changing the themes that you are using as some are just completely impossible for reading text. Try and get something that will provide some contrast between the background and the text.

I personally have no gripe with either the font size or the ringtones that are available (I usually copy on my own anyway, currently use "Spider Pig" LOL) however I think it would have been good for Nokia to allow larger font sizes in the messaging app. Having said that, the grid menu text is smaller still so people who have trouble reading messages would have issues there as well.
