Hi all.
I have a SE T68i which I am trying to use for email over GPRS. I have it working using IMAP at the moment for incoming, which is fine, but I cant get it working for outgoing mail. I think the reason for this is that my ISPs email server will only send messages when you are dialled up to the ISP. Anyone have a similar problem and found a way round it? I am on T-Mobile UK if that helps.

Many Thanks,

Morak

That is very likely what is happening.

Some ISPs are set up to allow sending once you have received email (for a 20 minute window of time, or so).

Others allow sending only with SMTP authentication. My T68i does not appear to support that, but I am running the initial firmware revision (R2a), so that could have changed some time in the past year and a half.

I got the firmware updated on mine today (to fix "No Access" bug, not to allow email) No SMTP Authentication on outgoing mail, unfortunately. Maybe someone knows if T-Mobile UK has an SMTP server? When I phoned customer services to ask they didn't seem to know what an "Outgoing Mail Server" was ...

He is T-Mobile UK, not Vodafone.

This looks like the ticket: smtp.t-email.co.uk
