I bought a phone from ebay, received it today.

Once I started up the phone it went into 'offline mode' (?), now I can't really do much with the phone and the message 'sim registration failed' keeps appearing sometimes.

I've checked another sim card with this phone and it did the same thing, I then checked the sim card I'm using on another phone and it worked fine.

Please help, I just got the phone today!!

Okay, nevermind about all that, I've got it working.

Now I have another problem..

I downloaded the latest firmware and now my reception is full, but for some reason I can't call anybody and they can't call me?!

It keeps saying 'connection error'.

PLEASE HELP!!!

You are leaving out some very important details.

What phone are you using?
What network is your SIM card?
Are you sure the phone you bought was unlocked?

Oh sorry..

Nokia N70 Music Edition
O2
Pretty sure, how do I check?

I bought it off ebay and it said it was unlocked.

Whenever I downloaded the latest firmware (5.07 or something like that) the phones 'access points' all turned to Orange network. Not sure if that means anything..

Thanks.

I can rule out that my O2 sim card is the problem as I've tried it in another phone and it works fine.

I received this phone today and I've spent all day trying to fix it!!

Do a soft reset... that may help.

Is this phone Orange branded by any chance? The person who you bought the phone off my have de-branded the phone before selling it to you. This might be causing issues on the handset level.

I can rule out that my O2 sim card is the problem as I've tried it in another phone and it works fine.

How old is the sim? And what model was the other phone? Sim cards can be fickle if they're old or have small faults in them which can cause issues with some phone and not others. Before doing anything drastic with the handset I'd be contacting O2 and asking them for a replacement sim card. If that fixes the issue excellent. If not you may have a faulty unit.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunetley, I had to return the phone the the ebay seller.

He said he's sending a new one today. Hopefully it doesn't have the same problem!!

Thanks.
