i always wanted a PDA/phone so finally a friend of mine gave me his cingular 8125 aka htc wizard (if i'm not mistaken) i couldnt unlock it and it had a mic problem but my neighbor said he will fix it so i traded with him for 2 Danger Sidekick 3 and a motorola SLVR L6 which i will sell on ebay soon

so now i was doing some looking around but i got lost on which to choose. i dont know much about these and i dont know exactly what i want (feature wise) i was looking at few of the IPAQ and the IMATE K-JAM

im sorry im being a pain but i need all the help i can get, i just want to upgrade from the N80 (which i love using) so in a way i wanna stay within the features (the WiFi, the high pixel camera, etc...)

any opinions appreciated and any questions are welcome

thanks in advance

Depending on your requirements, current devices that you can choose are:

1) HTC Advantage X7500/Dopod U1000 for 3G, HSDPA, WiFi 11b/11g, GPS, keyboard, 5" VGA screen and 3MP camera,
2) Toshiba G900 for 3G, HSDPA, WiFi 11b/11g, GPS, 3" WVGA (800x480) screen, keyboard and biometric scanner,
3) HTC 3600/Dopod D810 for 3G, HSDPA, WiFi 11b/11g and GPS,
4) Dopod 900 for 3G, HSDPA, WiFi 11b/11g, keyboard and VGA screen,
5) Dopod C730 for 3G, HSDPA, WiFi 11b/11g, keypad and keyboard.
6) HTC TyTN/Dopod 838 Pro for 3G, HSDPA, WiFi 11b/11g and keyboard.

These phones have Tri-band UMTS, should work with most 3G networks around the round. Only HTC Advantage X7500/Dopod U1000 has 3MP camera, you will have to wait for the upcoming HTC Kaiser for a smaller Windows Mobile with 3MP camera.

Other 3G phones like O2 XDA Atom Life and Asus P735 are UMTS 2100MHz only, not suitable for US. Camera phones like Lenovo ET-980 and Qool Labs QDA Icon/Voxtel W740 have 4MP CCD module, but I'm not sure about the specifications and availability, :P

for a second i felt like i was reading a different language here LOL

well now that i narrowed my options, im not looking for a brand new/newly released model, im looking for something like for example the Imate Jam or the HTC Wizard which a lil older and cheaper than the ones u mentioned( i didnt search all the models u mentioned just few) so maybe if u can recommend an older model, i know now im being a lil difficult but since im new to these phones id rather start with something older to get comfortable with them and see if i wanna go ahead and upgrade or stay away from them in the future

thanks for ur help

HTC Wizard is 2G, I thought you want to upgrade from N80 which is a 3G phone...

Anyway, Dopod 900 is as old as HTC Wizard, it's very expensive but 2nd hand is going quite cheap. HTC TyTN/Dopod 838 Pro is more than a year old, and HTC 3600/Dopod D810 is almost a year old.

For 2G phones, old models include Dopod 818 Pro, Eten G500 (with GPS), Eten M600, O2 XDA Atom and many more models from HP, Asus, Gigabyte and etc. BTW, the new HTC Touch is quite cheap as compare to the old generation PDA phones, worth considering too.

I would recommend you don't go for models that are too old, get something that has ROM upgrade to WM6, eg. HTC TyTN/Dopod 838 Pro, HTC 3600/Dopod D810, Eten Glofiish X500 (GPS) or Eten Glofiish M700.

What about the N95? Seems like the logical upgrade from the N80...

I would definatley look at taking the Htc Kaiser as its small and compact for a ppc and is really powerful with its qualcomm 7200 chipset, only drawback is its set for release for mid august.

HTC TyTN II. Most HTC users swear it's the best phone and they haven't upgraded to the HTC Touch Pro which is supposed to be its successor.

Another Tytn2 vote for me :) It really is a fantastic phone, and I really miss functions when switching between it and my work phone
