Recharging new phone

Hi all!! I recently bought a mobile and I have this following question since everyone has been telling me different things. How long should I recharge the phone for the first time? Some people said I should recharge it for 12 hours and I heard that some people would recharge it for 24 hours. Which is one is right?? And after the first time I fully recharge the phone should I let the battery to run out completely or is that bad for the battery? Again I heard different things from different people.
My battery is Li-ion battery.
I know that this is probably a stupid question but I just want to make sure! Thanks everyone for reading!!! Any reply would be greatly appreciated!!!

Just follow what it says in the manual. That's always worked for me.

My initial charging time for my Ericsson phones is 4-6 hours and after that, 2-3 hours or until the charger cools down (coz whenever I charge, the charger heats up)

For you use Li-ion battery ,2-3 hour is enough
