I just brought home a new 20" widescreen display, and I'm wondering what everyone else uses? I use to run dual 17" LCDs, but I'm loving the big widescreen. I think this is about the biggest I would go, it already seems huge sitting in front of me, anyone else use bigger?

What 17" panel has a resolution that high? 17" generally top at 1280x1024, that's a phenomenal dot pitch.

I have to agree with Brad, I have never seen a 17" with that resolution! Your eyes must bleed!

Many 15"/17" notebook supports WUXGA (1920x1200), change the display settings from 96DPI to 120DPI and it will be quite comfortable.

I've seen notebooks with it, never screens though. Mine is a normal 17", 1280x1024.

I guess, but it is still quite rare. Box, get back to us please, I'm really curious as to what you are using.

^^ That's exactly what i did. 96 dpi does hurt your eyes, everything is too small. Using a dell inspiron 9300

I have a 17" at work that does 1400 x 1050. I think it's called UXGA. There's also a wide version of that. Some love it, some hate it. Words are tiny, so sit close. :)

Oh yea, and I'm running dual 20" Dell Widescreen's (E207WFP).
800:1
5ms response
1680x1050

They're not the best LCD ever, but look great in my eyes. I guess that makes my desktop 3560 x 1050..

15" Widescreen on laptop (1280x800)
19" Samsung monitor on desktop (1280x1024)

I had a laptop with 1450x1050 or something like that, not a bit fan, didnt see the point in it, and they cost a fortune, yet our company got them as standard from dell (on the Latitude D610s & D620s)

My HP W20 has a great viewing angle, probably over 170 degrees on the horizontal. Vertical is pretty damn good too, though when you view it from below straight on you lose a bit of contrast, like with most LCDs.

Yeah Brad, but my old CRT still has the advantage of being able to withstand my two year old toddler sitting on top of it without budging an inch,:D whereas he would squash the life out of any LCD monitor:eek:

my old dell 19" crt, 1600x1200, is better than my laptop lcd by far imo. Colors are much richer and deeper.

Must be widescreen. 16:10 if my calculation is correct.

I'm running a 22" Samsung widescreen LCD at 1680x1050 (native). Although my graphics card isn't the greatest.

Monitors 21-22" will often accommodate a resolution of 2048x1536.

I've been looking into buying a 24" widescreen monitor recently, but their isnt any that really stands out, as i do a lot of photo editing and 3D Graphic design i'm after an IPS panel which has little or no color shifting anyone have any suggestions.

Try Mitsubishi, it's monitors are superb.

See Mitsubishi DiamondCrysta RDT261WH - http://www.mitsubishielectric.co.jp/home/display/product/rdt261wh/index.htm

I have not seen the RDT261WH, base on past experiences with Mitsubishi monitor, I think it will not disappoint :)

The problem with most monitors these days and the fabrication process is so complex that their are only 3 places on the planet that make the actual panels. AU optronics (Benq), Samsung (which also do dell and sony panels), and LG. of cousre their are a few others but these are the main ones.
recently ive been looking at the hazro 24" (based in birmingham UK) which is apparently going to be updated soon with an improved stand design, hdcp compatability and HDMI as well as dvi and component.
anyone else heard about this update.

PS shun these are great monitors I will check this out when I get home
