Hi, I had a phone call form a friend and she can't get he pc to log on fully. When she types in her password the screen starts to log her in but then before it fully loads it logs her straight back out again. It does the same on her kids screen names. We have tried safe mode and last known good config but to no avail. Does anyone know what the problem is and what the solution is? Many thanks.

have u solved the problem? maybe spyware/malware attacks. I haven;t encountered this scenario yet. But if you are still unable to login, I think boot from your XP CD and try a repair from the option. If that fails, boot again and reinstall XP (but do not format drive when asked of course). Just delete the old XP installation when asked so that the installation will only erase the OS modules. Your files (saved documents and spreadsheet and so on) should be there after the install, only with another mydocs folder (named after previous registered user).

The only drawback is that your OS updates and hotfixes will be discarded in the process. anyway, you can always update afterwards.

Hi, my Aunt ended up taking the computer to a repair company at a cost and has the computer back all running fine. It was a virus that caused the problem . Cheers
