That kind of screen is only good for touchscreen. Yet it looks very uncomfortable to hold if this was.

Thats a really bad conceptual design. As a practical design, I think it looks too fragile to be of any use especially if the screen is to be as big as the P900 which in itself is already very fragile.

A run of the mill rumour maybe?

That design comes straight from a real phone I have in my cells archive....... ALSO - I forget the company (toshiba, siemens or samsung) has a phone like this already as a concept.... ALSO in my cells photo archive - take directly from them :-D
