I'm using music edition. Since there r no fw updates available for music edition, does it mean music edition has no problems or they overcome these probs already in music edition?

Firnas : it will mean that Nokia haven't developed/released the newer Firmware for Music Edition, so you may find that the music edition is affected by some of the above issues. I'm guessing Nokia will release Music Edition and Internet Edition firmware for the above issues shortly.

By the way guys, I thought I would post my impressions of this firmware, now that I have used it for a week.

Firstly, it seems much faster than any firmware I've used previously for N73 (i have used standard, ME and IE editions). The phone has remained stable throughout.

The camera now starts up *very* fast now. When I open the shutter, I am ready to take a photo in under 2 seconds, which is very impressive.

There appears to be a new application called "Landmarks" installed. I've not noticed this on previous firmware (maybe someone can correct me?). There's no icon for it in the menus, the only way you can access it is by going to Tools>Settings>Phone>Standby Mode>Left Selection Key. You will see Landmarks in the list. It appears to be some basic GPS software. It allows you to use GPS to see where you currently are, and you can set your current location as a "landmark".

Good afternoon to you all.

Could those who have this new FW for the N73 , please say which network they're on. I'm on Vodafone & whenever I plug in & check with Nokia s/w installer it states that I have the latest s/w for this phone. (V3.0638.0.0.1)

I don't believe the Vodafone branded firmware has been updated yet. You could always de-brand your phone, tutorial on the forums.

Good afternoon to you all.

Just as an update. New version of this s/w is now available via Nokia Software updater for the Vodafone network.

Updated this morning & no problems.

Edit: Well I appear to of found a problem which may or may not be to do with the latest s/w. I have made , received & missed calls today , however when I press the green call button (shortcut which brings up the Log menu) , it states ' No dialled numbers ' , ' No Received Calls ' & ' No Missed Calls ' when you scroll to the correct menu. No I know this is incorrect , & it worked perfectly before. I have been to the Settings of the Log file in applications etc , however can't see where anything is any diferent to how it was.

Is anyone else having this problem , or any advice.

James,
Tks for the update. I had the same problem with the Log shortcut every time I change the sim which means Nokia hasn't fixed it yet.

I'm still using firmware 3.0638.0.0.1 30 Oct 06.
I'm a bit reluctant to upgrade now ;)

Hello guys.

I am experiencing a problem with my N73. When I try to update my firmware using the Nokia Software Updater it tells me that there are no updates for it although my firmware version is 2.0628.0.0.3 17-07-2006 RM-133 Nokia N73 (56.01)!! It also says that Nokia is making many different versions of every model for different countries and languages. Also when I try to find out if there are any firmware updates on their site by entering the model code (0539296) it says the same thing...no available updates!

The phone was sent to me by my uncle in Germany, and when I asked him, he told me that the phone was originally produced for the South-Asian market (that's why i have Indonesian, Malaysian, Philipino in my language options) so now I'm pretty sure that's the cause of the problem..

But does anybody know if I can eventually update my phone by any mean? And when can we expect Nokia to release an update of this version?? I really want to find out because this firmware has a lot of bugs and it lags a lot and now I'm really considering the possibility of selling the phone.

If anyone can, please help me, i would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

I think, first you need to make sure you got the correct "product code" printed on the back of your mobile (battery removed) and try again.

If it's correct, then, to be able to upgrade the firmware, you may have to "change product code" using some free softwares on the net. Use Google to search for it.

I've searched around and get conflicting opinions.. Could someone tell me the best product # to use to flash my N73 to ME, that this upgrade would work with?

Thanks much,

I have to agree with the other post saying the N73 with this laest firmware is quite simply the zippiest its ever been. Been using it for 2 days already and so far very satisfied
