A small pictorial into my Bluetrek G2 experience, with the help of my mighty P800's camera

here's the box that came...

http://findmidis.com/BT/41RJ0007.jpg

the address on their website really is real...

http://findmidis.com/BT/41RJ0009.jpg

so let's open it!

in the big brown box was ... another box!

http://findmidis.com/BT/41RJ0015.jpg

http://findmidis.com/BT/41RJ0014.jpg

definitely one of the BETTER boxes on the market, way better than what Nokia or SE throw at us.

so here's what came out...

http://findmidis.com/BT/41RK0020.jpg

the headset, charger, manual and pouch.

http://findmidis.com/BT/41RK0016.jpg

http://findmidis.com/BT/41RK0019.jpg

no, that's only ONE headset, the one on the left is the manual cover :)

so once everything was out of the box, i set it to charge!

http://findmidis.com/BT/41RK0021.jpg

after a while (i let it go for 6-7 hours), it was all set to roll (the light turned from the purple-blue/fuschia to blue only)

the final step: find a handsome guy to wear it! (hint hint : myself!)

All done!

I'll be updating this post later this week to see how well everything goes. So far, it works great with my P800 - the noise cancellation is EXCELLENT, the sound from the mic does not enter the speaker and vice versa. the incoming voice quality is better than the P800 speaker, but their is a little hiss for the other party (who cares!). Nothing serious, the outgoing voice quality is good.

I've been able to pair it with my laptop as well, and use it as my computer's speaker. However, I haven't been successful in making it the default microphone yet.

Thanks for your account! Did you have to pay any import taxes or duties?

The headset seems to have a nice snug fit on your ear. Please let me know how you find the comfort of longer-term use.

nopes, there were no duties or taxes - i only paid US$80 at bluepear.com.

yes the headset is very comfortable. i've left it on for the whole day and i can't tell whether its there or not :)

I received my G2 yesterday, let it charge for 7hrs. I used it today, good reception in fairly noisy areas. Only problem is that I used it less than an hour and the headset shut off. I will charge it again to check, and if it happens again I will send it back.

I am using it w/ SE P900.

Findmidis can you post a pic of the bluetrek next to a penny for size comparison? I think US and canadian pennies are the same size right? I have a SE HBH-65 now and it doesn't fit quite right on me. Also how is the battery life on the G2?

Charged it for around 10hrs, it's working fine now.

i can't compare the G2 with other headsets, but here are two comparisons.

This picture compares the G2 to a cent and quarter.

This picture compares the headset with a MemoryStick Duo.

The headset is a perfect fit on my ears. Though the earloop is bendable, I will have to agree with Michael that it may not feel 100% comfortable for all ear sizes. But then again, this applies to all headsets anyway.

DO NOT PURCHASE THE BLUETREK G2 FROM BLUEPEAR! I ordered it from mobileplanet.com and received it 5 days later with ground shipping. Sounds much better than your stories about bluepear. Just some advice.......

It looks like MobileBurn's shipping calculator only gives you the US as an option.

Findmidis, what did Bluepear put for the value when they filled out the customs declaration form? Also, unless I'm mistaken they shipped it USPS, right?

findmidis.com

they put the correct value of $80 on the box, i was not charged any duties or customs.

it was not shipped via UPS, it was shipped via USPS (US Postal Service). thats probably why it came as slow as a turtle.

scott, bluepear is giving free shipping whereas you are paying at least $8 (for US shipping) at mobileplanet. they don't even list shipping to canada or outside north-america, but i'm guessing that to be at least $20.

I ordered the g2 from mobile planet and got it right away. So far it is great. Very loud and very clear. People i speak to dont even know im using an earpiece, because ive asked. As far as the voice dial feature, it is better than the hbh65 i had. I actually re-recorded my voice dialing options pretty low and it works nicely.

I recently purchased a Bluetrek G2 headset to use with my Sony Ericsson T630.
I have been unable to pair the device as a headset. I can only pair it as a handsfree.
Did you have this same problem?
Do you know of any ways around this problem?

When i first paired them, it automatically went to handsfree and it was draining my cell phone battery really fast. I paired it with my t-610. I couldnt find headset in my options but in the cellphones bluetooth options i found car handsfree and i tried that. If you have that option, try it.

I recently bought a G2 with a dongle (for connection with any non-bluetooth) in Hong Kong which I use with my Treo 600 smartphone. It works perfectly. Voice recog is also perfect. Because I bought it in HK, I got a UK charger. When I returned to US, I bought a second dongle from Ebay with US charger. Now I set for when I travel abroad. This thing is amazing...

Can anyone tell me exactly what you mean between headset & handsfree? I guess I don't understand exactly why the phone thinks they're different, and/or why it would make the battery drain faster?

Thank you,
Mark

I'm using the Bluetrek G2 with my SE T630. The G2 I have is slightly newer than the one posted here, it doesn't come in a cube box. Comes in a well, "action figure" type packaging. And it's Black covered rather than Grey/Silver. Anyway here are some pics;

3. I am using Sony Ericsson phone, the talk time and standby time of the G2 is very short.

Please pair your headset and mobile phone again using the headset profile.
Instruction: Make sure your G2 is off then press the Vol- button for around 15 seconds until you can see the red and blue LED flashes, follow the normal procedure for the pairing process.

This FAQ caught my attention, I want to try to pair my phone in Headset mode. However, i can't seem to pair my headset using headset mode as stated in my manual.

7. My handset has both Headset and Handsfree profile, how can I force my G2 using Headset profile?

1. Make sure your G2 headset is off.
2. Switch on your phone and select the Bluetooth discover mode on the mobile phone (see the bluetooth mobile phone user guide).
3. Press and hold the Vol- button for about 15 seconds until the indicator light flashes red and blue alternatively.
4. Once the mobile phone detects the headset, a message is displayed with "Bluetrek G2".
5. Follow the phone instructions to accept the pairing. The PIN code (or passkey) is 0000.
6. When the pairing is completed, the indicator light will switch to blue and flashes slowly.
7. Your G2 is now ready to use.

On my headset, although I did as instructed, it wont flash blue and red.

Anyone of you have tried these steps on your G2?

I followed the steps below, but at step 3, I can't seem to get it working. Although I've held the vol- button for 15 seconds, the indicator light on my bluetooth headset got no blue and red flashes.

Can all of you bluetrek G2 users please try the below steps, and please tell me whether it works for you?

Thanks a million! :D

Try following your phone's directions for pairing. Mine (Moto V710) was a little different than BlueTrek's directions and that solved it.

My SE K700i manual, doesn't have any specific instrucitions on pairing a bluetooth headset in "Headset" mode. It only has the normal pairing procedures.

You're using a Bluetrek G2 too? Can you please tell me whether light blinks blue and red when you hold the vol - button for 15secs?
