Just in case you have not noticed, Nokia will reveal new Communicator (9500) today in 3GSM.

It will include Wi-Fi wireless LAN capability, and a deal with
IBM that will provide for smooth handoffs of applications between carrier and enterprise wireless networks.

No picture found, but 9500 should be slightly shorter and lighter than earlier Communicators. Flips open to unveil a keyboard, as the earlier Communicator models. It should run over EDGE and will sell at around EUR 800 ($1,000). . Available in Q4'04

hmm, is it a camera in the middle of the phone that looks like a joystick ?

And what is it on the side of the phone ? possibility to connect a keyboard or a monitor ?

It looks like the on/off button is on the front side or is that the camera ?

I suppose the camera is back-side of commi. Front-side is like series 40 v.2 (imagine 6230 w/ 128x128 65k screen, 3 soft-buttons / joystick). So with this you speak like with a normal phone...

I don't know for sure but I would imagine its a mini-USB connector up there. Also there still might be IR somewhere althought there is of course BT and WiFi included.

Yes on up-right corner there is On/Off button.

Inside there is Series 80 v.2 (Symbian 7) with totally new keypad.

some specs:
WiFi
BT
Series 80
shorter and thinner versus 9210i
222 gram
80MB memory
Camera (prob 1.3 MPix)
Q3/4
800€

Software developed together with IBM

Hi,

The only thing missing here is that the inner sceen should have been touch screen using stylus with handwriting recognition to write notes directly on it.

Hope they do some thinking.

Quoted from Official Website:

Phone display: Active matrix with 65,536 colors in 128 x 128 pixels
Inner display: Transflective LCD with 65,536 colors in 640 x 200 pixels

Whats the different between Active Matrix and this "Transflective" LCD? Is it supposed to be a better screen?

"Whats the different between Active Matrix and this "Transflective" LCD? Is it supposed to be a better screen?"

I'll take this question.

AM refers to a type of display where the elements of the pixel matrix are addressed individually for a faster response time. TFT and TFD are considered active matrix, and offer a better presentation of photos, and particularly moving images, movies. Most new high tier, and some mid-tier, phones use AM for the main display.

Older b/w, grayscale technology displays, including some that are color, are mostly passive matrix, and are still frequently used on external displays in clams (except in very high-tier phones), and on the main display in many mid and low-tier clams and monoblocks.

"Transflective" is not a term that describes a method of display addressing; instead it defines the transmissive/reflective balance of a display.

A "transflective" or some say "transmissive-reflective" or some might also say "transmissive-enhanced" display is one that can both transmit light (allowing the display to be viewed easily in the dark with help of a backlight) and reflect incoming light (helpful for viewing a display in bright indoor or outdoor light).

Nearly all major handset providers are shipping transflective displays at this time, hoping to balance display performance indoor, at night, and in bright sunlight.

Transflective can be thought of as a display somewhere between two extremes:

Pure Reflective <--> Transflective <---> Pure Transmissive

Where exactly a transflective display is ideally "tuned" to reside along that spectrum is a very subtle, subjective, and complex decision that you can imagine is over-discussed in large decision making steering committees within the handset providers.

As a consumer you need to remember one rule: before buying, take a phone outside in bright sun and try to read the display. If you can’t read it, then the reflective nature has been traded off (tuned down) too far in order to get the display to look better during typical point-of-sale (indoor) customer evaluation. Phones that look GREAT inside the store may be unreadable in bright sunlight.

The camera isn't 1.3 MegaPixels unfortunately... it's just VGA.

It says so on the nokia website if you search for 9500. :)

Nokia website has a lot of pictures of the Nokia 9500 - you can even download the manual and software for the 9500!
Although US T-Mobile does not have any information on release of that model, neither US Nokia.
I asked my friend from Italy - this model is going to hit their market by the end of this month. around 800 Eur.
