Hi, all well i have had a terrible time trying to update my 6630. I have the original firmware version which is what is keeping me from unlocking my phone. I have a vodafone 6630 and i have the offical unlock code which vodafone has supplied me with. The problem is i am getting the famous dissapear issue after i enter the code. I enter the code that and press # after the last digit and the code just dissaprears, it does not show sim restriction off or code error or anything like that it just dissapears and does not unlock my phone. I have version 2.39.148 from 29-11-04 which is as old as dirt. Anyways i have looked into this issue and what i can do to make the phone accept the code and unlock itself is to update the firmware. Here is my problem, i do not have a pbb or any other high end unlocking utility other then my standard dcu2 cable and my trusty computer. Well since i dont have a valid sim card for my phone i cannot update it using nokias automatic update software which works wonders if you have a sim card inside your bb5 phone. It does not allow me to update without a sim in it. Can anybody please help me out with the how i can possibly update my firmware without a sim and just using my usb cable and computer. I have heard that there is a rar file out there somewhere which you can install onto the phone and it works just like the update and you do it using nokias software suite but i have had no luck finding it. Please please somebody help me out
