Please, please can anyone help?

I have just got a new Nokia 6131. I use my MP3 player to listen to plays, stories, etc which are either digitised from radio or transferred from commercial CDs or audio tapes, so assumed I could transfer some of these to my phone. Each play or story is normally split into 5 minute tracks.

I bought a 1GB card.

I have downloaded the latest version of PCSuite - 6.61.13.0.

I can indeed transfer the mp3 or CD tracks across to the phone using the Music Manager frmo PCSuite but I have two serious problems.

1) Some of the tracks lose their names - the titles apppears as a series of squares on the phone

2) It does not appear to be possible to create playlists.

When I try to create a playlist using the process given in the Help in PCsuite, it simply doesn't work.

If I create a playlist in 'My Collection' and copy it across, it appears in the Phone view on the PC but not on the phone.

I tried creating folders on the memory card, but the phone still listed all the tracks but with no playlists.

I cannot see any option on the phone which might allow me to select a playlist.

3) There is no FF or backwards fast, nor track skipping option in the phone, so the only option seems to be to allow it to go thorugh the tracks in whatever order they appear on the phone.

Am I missing something or is this just a useless music player?

1. Yeah, I get that too. MP3 playing programs and devices get the track information from metadata called ID3 tags, which is data embedded in the mp3 files. There are different versions of these tags (ID3v2, ID3v2.1, and so on), with some differences, and unfortunately the music player app doesn't seem to be able to read all versions properly. Some media player programs also have this problem in my experience.

2. Read my answer to question 3 first.
Once you've made the playlist, it should transfer to the phone automatically when you update it. Go into the music program. Press the left softkey (blue) to go into the Options menu. Select 'Track list'. Press Options again. Scroll down to Change tracks and select it. Any tracklists you made should be listed there.

3. No, there is no FF or reverse control (though using the remote controls on the HS-5 (UK£30) handsfree set I bought separately, this did work by holding the next and previous buttons down).
There IS track skipping in the music app, which makes me think you're not actually using the proper music application, but are using the track play function in Gallery. You get to the proper program by going Main Menu -> Media -> Music Player. That has skip and previous controls.
