Error on 8801 when sending text messages

I bought a nokia 8801 over the internet. It is not branded with my carrier, t-mobile. I am unable to send text messages, I get an error saying, "message sending not allowed." I receive text messages great, but cannot send them. I called Nokia and they said to talk to T-Mobile and t-Mobile said talk to Nokia.

Any ideas on this would be helpful.

Also, I'm new to these forums and don't many of the "cell phone lexicon" so please try to dumb it down for me.

Go to Menu>Messages>Message settings>Text messages>Sending profile>Default profile

If it doesn't have a number in the "Message center number", put +12063130004...I think that's the problem.

How dumb of them to give you the runaround.

That's the number that I have in there already. Is there anything else you can think of?
