why do men like black?

Isn't it true that most new cellphones come in like a variety of colors? But why is it that men (most of the time) still prefer black phones over colored ones? What is the reason for this?

I've never owned a black phone in my life..... my currant phone a Nokai N70 is in the ivory/pearl colour.... black phones are boring also they tend to show marks more... if you chip your phone then half the time the basic plastic colour is white or pale so it shows through.

Because it's an empowering color I guess. Obviously, most men wouldn't want something even remotely effeminate, like gold or especially pink. I think silver is fine, but I think in the male mind black looks very slick and sneaky

I find that black is for people afraid of color. If everything was black it would be pretty boring. I like materials (woodgrain, stainless steel, titanium, copper etc.) or even simulated materials are nice if well done.

What does drive me nuts is people who blackout everything on their car, window tint, lights rims all on a black car w/black interior, I think this is the most retarded thing especially in a hot sunny climate.

mmm.... black is a neutral color. One of the reasons I like it is coz almost any other color goes well with it. Like if you have a black phone, you can have any color of pouch, belt clip, or strap to it - and it would still look nice. It's not like you're combining pink and green, hehehehe... black, like grey and white, is neutral - making it very fashionable.

I agree with above I use a blackberry and it is hard to keep the dust off of it and it seems to magnify scratches and abrasions. Strangely enough they are called blackberries but blackberries are not black. When black is the primary color and a contrasting color is used as accent it has a tendency to look high end business.

He has a black edition 6600, a black 7610, 3250, N70, N80, and he's now looking for an all black N93. Like how weird is that? Or maybe you guys dont find it weird? hihihi :D

I think black is a "colour" that's easily appealing to most people. Can't really go wrong with it apart from perhaps the wrong material used. Its also easier to get collections in that colour, hence perhaps that guy's consistent theme in phones.

Black? Who needs black? The new nokia 3250 express music edition is where it's at. Red and white, that's 'design' baby!

Fashion isn't a single color, black isn't even it's own color it's all the colors in a single dark shade. The only time you wear all black is at a funeral. Black phones aren't fashion either, it's a plastic thing you shove at your face when you send and recieve calls.

Black products to me are very cold, lifeless and mechanical. Nothing says 'human' than products in tasteful colors and material. Whatever happened to the woodgrain fascias?

The latest phone I ordered is black (E70):dontknow: , but only because it looked better than the grey version, grey is worse than black in my book, but grey doesn't show dirt!

I think the verdict is that men have no explanation for their fascination with black. Like barracuda to shiny objects they are helpless. I must be a freak of nature for wanting color:dontknow:, either that or I'm one up on evolution:p

i LIKE black too but not to the point of climbing every mountain just to get a black version of something... i do appreciate its class (in a way there is)
in my point of view since i do wear color i tend to choose black for my accesories, like my wallet, my XDA IIs, etc... at least to tone down things that might get a snatcher's attention... :)
