after a long hard fought year i finally managed to gather some(actually a lot of) money.
now i'm planning to buy a new mobile phone but i can't decide what to do..
currently i'm using a nokia 7650. i'm a lawyer, therefore i was planning to buy a Ericsson P800 because of the half pda function but i went crazy when i saw the new nokia 6600 yesterday.

what should i do now ?

a)stick to the nokia 7650
b)enjoy the P800
c)wait for the nokia 6600

p.s: please feel free to give me long and detailed answers & ideas.:)

Well it really depends on what features you need, and what features you want.

For example, do you really need the PDA functions? Do you need proper Bluetooth? Does the phone need to be very small? How long are you willing to wait before you make the purchase?

Once you answer those questions we should be able to help you out a little more.

well i guess you're right.
let's see...

first of all i don't want to look back and miss my nokia 7650 after i purchase the new phone. i mean the new phone should give at least everything that 7650 gives.

also i need a complete pda with internet / html function (very similar to a desktop computer - i heard that 6600 could not browse the web like a desktop comp)

the phone's size does not matter to me. i'm a 7650 user after all...

and also i want to be satisfied with the entertaining side of the phone .(by means of mp3, games etc.)

of course a stable bluetooth and ir connection will be necessary.

and finally i'm willing to wait for at least another week beforei purchase the phone.

p.s: as i was browsing the web today i saw a page about the P900 and got highly confused. is there a huge difference between 800 and 900 that i need to take a look before i buy anything ?:)

one word - P800.

It has everything that the 7650 has, and more.
I like the versatility of it, since it can be used as an MP3 player, games machine, PDA, document viewer and many other things. You will not be disappointed with the games on it! You will find that the extra memory storage on the P800 will allow you to do a lot more things. Personally, I carry quite a few PDF documents with me which help me out with my work.

The P900/P810 (model number is not finalised yet) will be a small update on the P800. It will be smaller and thinner and look completely different.

first of all i'd like to thank you for your assistance sid.:)

but i still have one last question:
let's forget about the looks.. is there (or will there be) any technical or technologic difference between 800 and 900 that would make a sensible man wait for the P900.. or is there going to be another example 7650 / 3650 difference..

Fundamentally, they are the same phone. The P810/P900 will likely have a newer version of the UIQ interface for Symbian, perhaps more internal memory, the display has been upgraded to 65k colours. I have heard rumours of WIFI and a 1 + megapixel camera. If those things appeal to you, by all means wait. It could be sometime before we know any more.

If you already have a 7650 I see no compelling reason to get a 6600. You won't see all that much different there.

If you already have a 7650, what is the urgency? Other than gadget fever of course.. :D

I would wait for 6600 and some review results on it. On paper its specs seem very impressive.

Also, there are some rumours that Nokia is coming up with a new Communicator. That could be a killer application (if they are able to squeeze in some new specs AND reduce size at the same time). Another rumour is the 6850, that could also be ideal for your needs.

Finally, waiting a little gives you the chance to see what the P900 is all about.

New communicators have been in the works for a while. Cant tell you anything about them yet, though.

6850 is a reality, for sure. I loved the 6800, and the 6850 is smaller/lighter and has Bluetooth. Makes me drool.

It hasn't been released as an official product yet. We don't even know for sure if it will be called the P810 or P900 yet, for that matter.

What might be a good idea is to buy the P800 after the P810 comes out. That way, prices will be less since it is an old model.

theseus: You should consider the Siemens SX1. Spec-wise, nothing in the GSM world beats it.
