Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the proper forum for my inquiries, but from reading the posts here, everyone seems extremely helpful and friendly.
To the point, I just wanted to find out if any one here is interested in creating/designing and manufacturing their own cellular phones? Essentially, I would design and manufacture the phone to your specifications. All options current with market will be available including, camera, full color display, choice of languages and more.
If you or anyone you know might have an interest in manufacturing design specific phones, please reply or email me at mybtsocket@aol.com
Once again, I apologize if this is the wrong forum to post, and if any rules were broken it was unintentional.
Thank you
Michael

How exactly would you plan on doing this?
What kind of capabilities and experience do you have?
Are you offering to make one off designs? What about cost?

Michael,
Phones would be one off designs and manufactured overseas in China by the same manufacture that builds current U.S and other import brand named equiptments. Prices will be very competitive as per i am the direct connect. But, prices will also be determined by the options selected on the phone. All hardware and software will be built and or implemented at the same location.

Right, but one-off designs are expensive to make.
Why don't you give us an example of what you could make, and for what price?
A basic phone phone with 64k color display and polyphonic ringtones.
List the specs and tell us what it would cost. If it is affordable enough, I am sure there would be a lot of people interested in getting something custom.
I'm also curious about the prospect of custom phones but I have a few questions.
Would producing a one-off mould for a handset and producing it not cost you much more than you could sell the phone for?
Don't phones have to pass some kind of FCC regulations before they can be sold? I'm a bit fuzzy in this area so I could be wrong.
Aren't certain components licensed to companies in bulk? Would you be able to do this, heading into the market to provide one off phones?
Considering an average phone users desires, could you fit everything into a case that a user required or would there be some level of editorialism involved on your part?
What level of warranty would be provided? Would the aforementioned factiories in China be the only place the phone could be serviced?
I assume the people who actually put all the pieces together won't be doing it on their day job lunchbreak, what experience do these people have?

PS. You're not from Nigeria, are you?

FCC certification is a US only issue, unless of course you Brits have decided to adopt our laws and I missed the news release....
Actually I thought you had deemed to make us accept your laws in this case, but point taken :D

Hey,
Yes you guys are correct. It would be too costly to produce a mold for just one or two phones. I should have mentioned earlier that it would be most benifital to mass produce, and that is my intention. If money was not an issue we would still make a mold for one or two phones. But, that would be extremely expensive and not recommended.
Also, the FCC does have certain restrictions regarding the signal strength, which isn’t an issue. We follow all rules and regulations.
Essentially, I am looking to produce bulk quantities for clients whom wish to start their own line of branded mobile phones.
Sorry if the original post has been vague.
Should you have any questions, leads or information, please replay to this thread.
Thank you
Garrison.
Um.
Let me clarify - instead of selling people one custom made phone, you're instead looking to sell people a thousand units?

yes and no.
This is geared towards companies who want to introduce their own line of mobile phones. For instance, we would produce and brand phones for say Verizon. So, instead of them just offering the typical market phones of Motorola, Nokia, Samsung etc.. they would also have the option of offering their own named phones, which inturns gives them an advantage over their competition.
hope that clears things up a bit
thanks
If you're looking to pitch your ideas towards networks, it might be best to speak to the networks directly as opposed to posting on message boards - possibly vodafone.com and orange.com might be a good start.

i cant agree with you more!
the posting on boards are for the 'if by chance' someone who is starting their own service provider company happens to stumble upon the thread..
yes, i have been attempting to contact the 'source' of it all. but as business goes, you have to attack every which way possible.
thanks for your input jalu
