Hi,

I have recently bought a motorola razr v3 black ...
I was trying to connect to my laptop using a USB cable ... Win XP deteceted that the new h/w as motorola v3 ... but was not able to find any drivers ...

Somebody please tell me where can I download the drivers from ....

Ok first there is not usb driver to use your phone with your computer, On V3 there is not way to use the usb along, you will need to buy a Mobile Phone Tools software in orden to use the usb data cable.
On other model of motorola phone like V635i has memory card is when the usb cable only will read the memory card as (Mobile Storage Devise.) on your computer and this usb data cable only will work on Windows 2k me, and xp.
Other model of phone without memory card will need Mobile phone tools.

I don't know where this guy gets his info, but there is a USB Driver for the V3 Razr. I downloaded it by registering at

After you register, go to the first post on this thread and near the bottom of the post is the .RAR version of this driver. U will need winzip or a similar unrar utility to decompress the file. If you don't have the Mobile Phone Tools software, however, the only thing you can do is charge your phone with the usb cable...

Go to http://www.motomodders.net and register and dl P2kMan with that when it recognizes your v3 on ur puter direct it to look in the Drv folder of that download all ur issues will be solved as well as gaining a tool that will assit u with Dl and Ul pics from ur phone and ringtons etc...etc...etc...be sure to read up though before using that program DO NOT DWELL INTO THE UNKNOWN...educate yourself.:cool:

Ok, I have spent the past 2 hours reading every single post in this thread and it seems I am reading the same thing over and over, I have tried everything on the thread, over and over, and the 2 hours before this thread I googled and googled, registered with about a million forums, download driver sites, etc and I still am not getting it. The download thing on the last post I keep hitting the install button, but then what? I downloaded drivers, I keep getting things in notepad and inf. files but what do I do with it, nothing happens, do I need software? I'd like to transfer my pictures, because I am way too lazy and get easily frustrated with the pix place thingy. Am I missing something?

you need MOTOROLA PHONETOOLS to transfer things to and from your phone. Google it.

Does anyone know how to transfer java apps, etc to motorola v3? thanks.

I have a RAZR V3. I just accidentally found the usb cord for it, which was a surprise since i didnt think i had one. is there a way that i can transefr videos to my computer/ringtones to my phone for free using this cord? other threads mentioned a cd that came with the phone, but i dont remember getting one. maybe i did but dont remember it, like with the cord itself, but either way, i doubt i have it now. so is there any freeware i can get? i couldnt tell in other threads if the usb drivers were for data transfer or solely for computer charging... thanks a lot for your help!

use a program such as Nero to rip a CD to an ISO. This is a disc image file that can be handled as any other file but then burned back to cd identical to the source.

MPT is Motorola Phone Tools, I believe you need to pay for it..... it's the same sort of thing as Nokia PC Suite.

I've got it for my V3x and I can't stand MPT.

Have spents days & hours trying to work this out, and I'm getting so stressed! I have cut and pasted the statements and made the driver. I installed on my PC and my V3I phone now looks as though it's charging but I cannot use it as a wireless modem. I am on the Cingular/ATT network and would like to use this as a wireless modem to fax and connect to my network when away from land lines. Can some one help me.... I use windows XP SP2

Thinking of getting Moto Razr V3. Backing up my phonebook, (and orig load to new phone) is very important to me. Secondary, is the transfering of Pics, MP3 files between laptop and phone. Happy to find this site, but can see a lot of frustration for a very basic need.

Question:
1) do you get the USB cord in the box with the phone?

Opinion:
Isn't it alittle crazy that Moto DOES NOT offer a free download for the software? They want $35 !!!!
(Nokia offered a free download, and I backed-p my phone twice a year, via Infrared) I needed that backup big time, and it is easier to type on computer when putting a bunch of contact info.

Usually with unlocked versions of the RAZR, the retail package comes with Motorola Phone Tools included.

But yeah. It is pretty ridiculous that MPT isn't free like PC Suite.

legal ?????? if you mean the copy.... yes it is a legal copy. i've downloaded it and installed it on the comp, i dont know what you are asking about. all i thought was to share it with those who are in need of it, as i've searched for them one whole night.....and i know the pain.

I got a USB driver from nodevice - it's an MSI file and I installed it. But, when I run P2K (v4.9.8 on Windows XP), it says "No p2k device found, NOT connected!"

Any ideas?

Okay - I finally figured it out. Don't use the USB device driver from nodevice.com! It is an MSI file which just goes off and installs the stuff. What you want is the inf device driver files which you can get at ofg.osnn.net/razr/ then, after plugging in the USB cable, tell it to look for the files you just downloaded.

Then Pk2commander works - and it works great!

Ok a friend of mine found a driver that allowed him to transfer music, photos etc... the download was free but he forgot where he got it he never had to purchase the mobile phone tools. Can someone please help me out??

I installed Motorola Phone Tools and I have a RAZR V3 GSM, but i can't find it in the motorola phone tools list when setting up. I found RAZR V3s and i tried that but it just says that it cant find the phone. Any suggestions?

Ok I might be a little late but you can use a software to help manage your cell phone over the computer. Although it might not be free :( check it out here:

google accessorygeeks. and search for motorola phone tools

what I found from here was like a manual and it worked great for me when I was organizing my V3 with my laptop

you need to use motorola phone tools for the internet setup and other applications. but you cant just fit any cell phone w/ a the mpt, there is a compatibility issue too. check it out here:

So which of these should I get to use the Motorola RAZR H3 Bluetooth Headset with my PC? My Bluetooth dongle sync'd with it successfully, but it is not showing up as a headset. I would assume this has something to do with no "services" showing up under the "properties" tab of bluetooth -> device -> Motorola RAZR H3

I read something bout needing widcomm drivers from the manufacturer to use it with Windows XP, but motorola's webpage has no such drivers~! >< PLEASE HELP
