I want this phone. Love the silver, and is it just me or does the screen look considerably large? It looks much bigger then the 7250's, but its probably just the pics.

I think the physical size of the screen is identical to the 7250. Pitty is want about the size of a T610 phone..but hey, we cant have everything.

Yes! I think the same way too... It does look large.. Not small, as I expected for the resolution. I think maybe is the pixel font they were using... That makes it look bigger... BTW, did you notice the quality and brightness of the screen.. I'd say is pretty good. Looks nice.
P.S.: I think this is like the 3rd time for this link!:p Since I posted it already, after The Edge...;)

if the 7250 i had is an indication, its about a few cm's longer then the 8310, the 8310 is still the smallest nokia phone to date, but not the thinnest, that title goes to the 6100

^^
The 'official' Nokia stats for the phones are as follows;
6320 - 103 mm long
8250 - 102 mm long
8310 - 097mm long
Hmmm, not too shabby at all considering the screen size.
So the 6230 is only 6mm longer then 8310.

Reason I ask is I use an 8310 now, and I was wondering how much bigger the 6230 will look in my pocket, etc.

Edge, i dont think you'll need to worry about size, its pretty damn tiny! The 8310 is chunky though! I think it'll be a bit thinner, but 6mm longer.
At the end of the day i'd prefer a bit longer to thicker, it can always sit in your pocket, but if its thicker it'll stick out more and for me that's more annoying! Having said that I wouldn't wanna haul around a 3 phone!!! They're just high tech bricks!!!

Give them time, they'll come down in size and price like most cellphones. Remember how big the first cellphones (TDMA) were, and look how tiny they are now...!

I saw a couple of months ago an early Ericsson analog phone and it was seriously MASSIVE!! About 20cm long and 10 wide and maybe about 5cm thick, that thing was a beast and sure did weigh heaps too!
But as far as 3 phones are concerned, i dont see why they couldn't be made smaller to begin with, its not like we've gone back 20 years in technology, they could still have decent sized screens and be made smaller. But I guess their price says something too, compared to decent GSM phones they're a bargain.

I love the silver/black combination, I hope that's the version that'll be released here in the UK rather than the all-black version we've seen in earlier pics. For me, I think this is the nicest looking phone Nokia have made yet.

If they don't release it in your preferred colour, you'll probably find covers available a few months after its release (or at least I hope!)

I've seen 3 colours so far, the all silver i dont really like, the silver/black is nice but i think i prefer the all black.
the all silver didnt have green call and red end keys they were all black, i think that doesnt look too good.
Then again i'll probably end up buying whichever comes out first!

I have seen it in green and silver as well and it looks awesome. Its like a metalic colour like the 8250 covers.

HEY! Me wanting an all black cover has nothing to do with anything else known by that name :p No offence guys!
I've seen the green, brown and there's another cover on the Nokia website, i think they look horrible there, but i'm sure they'll look better in real life.
i've got the genuine Green case for my 8250 its cool, in the sun it can look green (duh!), purple, gold or brown, there might be other shades you can see depending on the angle you hold it at!

I have to agree with you, i think the all silver is just plain ugly but maybe in real live it will look better.
The thing is, at all Nokia's Asian Pacific website, it shows the silver only and Im afraid this is what we will be getting. I hope not.
Another thing is how to change the covers? I mean, you cant change the keypads and the front covers, can you?
I hope either the pearl white or total black is preferred.

I dunno if you'll be able to buy genuine keypads in different colours and i'm sure the genuine ones wouldn't come with keypads, but it'll probably be like all other cases, u buy a dodgy market case and u get a keypad with it!

will it be like 7250/7250i with a keypad each wif the covers?
Y'know what...
Is it just me or does that phone look REALLY bland?
There's absolutely no personality or soul to that phone. It's just dull. Nokia have managed phones with at least an attempt at personality before now (say the 7210, for example) but this just has none.
It's just...boring.

Jalu The design comes from the idea that "form follows function." Remember how many people complained about the tiny awkward 7210 keys? The 7210's form did not stay true to its function of being a user-friendly phone, as far as the keypad went anyway. The 6230 is destined to be a classic, the next generation 6310i.

At least the 6310i had a goldy-coloured bit of the keypad to make it at least SLIGHTLY distinctive.
This doesn't even have that. Yuck.

2 each his own... obviously the concensus is that most people quite like it... and as a company, concensus matters...and is good for profits
I'm sorry but the 6310i is one of the ugliest phones I've ever seen. The gold colouring is just tacky tacky tacky! Of course this is just my humble opinion...

Theres even a decal for the camera plate when the facia is removed.

I wouldn't be surprised at all, if that happened. I'm guessing that a few months after the 6230's release we'll start seeing/hearing about a version of it that'll have basically the same feature set but a different styled keypad, a "fashion" version as alt-x suggested. This isn't necessarily a bad thing; Nokia will certainly sell more units with a "fashion" styling to them, as there's a large sector of the market that considers the look of their phone more important than its features. If a "fashion" version appears I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't appear as a 62xx or even a 6xxx but as another designation: for example the 3200, whilst having some differences, is essentially a 7250/7250i with a different styled keypad. Changing the designation only adds to the idea that the phone is radically different, when in reality there's only minor differences. I don't own a 7250 or 3200 so I don't know the real differences between them, but I think you guys get what I mean.

I agree, yet I find that Nokia is releasing less and less faceplates with their phones.
The 3650 that I guess was suppose to "woo" the young adult market with its hipness, only came out with 3 official face plates.
I personally like my phone to look hip, but I always find that after-market facias look better than official ones.
With the 7200 just around the corner. (The Vuitton Phone)
I wonder if the will just keep it modern and simple with this model.

bentheslayer: The 3200 and 7250 are essentially the same phones, just different covers, i dont know if there are any differences. Personally I'd prefer the 7250i any day and the 3200's keypad is the worst ever! Then again i haven't used the 3650, that's probably worse!
patient: I reckon nothing beats a genuine cover, they fit better than any dodgy immitation and it gives the phone a more solid feel, the market ones always creak and just dont look as good, but thats just my opinion.

Personally, I really cannot stand the look of the 6310i with the gold colouring. The silver that my dad has is so much nicer.
I like the look of the busniess phones over the fashion phones. The 6230, IMO, is lovely and the silver cover is gorgeous.
Most people I know like the 7210/7250 style, but the simple styling of the 6230 is what I really like.

I think the 6230 is a gorgeous looking phone, I'll be getting the black/silver combination definitely. Whilst my 3650 is funky, the 6230 just looks so stylish in comparison! I love the features (and Symbian!) of my 3650, great cam too, and it's certainly the best phone I've used (and I've used a few, lots of different manufacturers) but I'm looking forward to having a handset that'll fit nicely in the palm of my hand again. And since the 6230 can do practically everything the 3650 can . . . I think I'm in heaven!

Yeah I like the look of the 6230 and the 6220. I've never been one to buy things for the "look at me" factor. But, if you do like that sort of thing (theres nothing wrong with that) i'm sure nokia will provide.
I'm looking forward to seeing what MIDP 2.0 can do :) hrmmm Gamboy Advance type games...

I have never understood why people hate a company turning out the same phone with a different style.
Surley it shows that the company understands the market, we may all want the same features but we all have different tastes, this has to be a good thing.
I think people let frustration show through as they are looking for the next best thing, but I think business users were glad when 6610 was released as they wouldn't want to use the 7210.
