So what turned you into a gaming fan ?

Listed in no relevant order - know a wide age spread so put in some real classics and some later models...

Out of those I've only ever played on a Mega Drive, so I voted that.

Mega Drive turned me into a game nut. SNES was excellent and that maybe better but I vote MegaDrive simply because it was that that made the most impact on me as a kid.

Why is it called Mega Drive instead of the Genesis?

Is it weird that I consider the N64 to be "classic":o

Thats the UK for you - you had the Famicom we had the NES, you had the Super Famicom (in glorious purple) and we had the SNES in boring grey and white.

To me 64 is still current - wouldn't slot it in the classic catergory yet - some shops in london still selling new'ish 64 games.... However Goldeneye is my number one game of all time using both joypads honey style....

N64 is a classic for me, and I agree with you joe Goldeneye was the best, although I never did complete it on 007. It was so funny playing 4-way multiplayer on it, especially on Temple.

N64 isnt classic enough to be on those polls i dont think. i remember playing it in year 2000.

Goldeneye multiplayer was the best. I had a mate that could complete single player in 007 way to easy to be human...

Brad - WOW !! I couldn;t get past a few of the levels in 007 hardness level - I always used the honey 2 joypad playing style unless it was multiplayer

Yeah it was still NES and SNES...I don't recall ever playing it though. By the time I finally got to the States and had friends who had game consoles, the original PlayStation and N64 were just coming out, and my best friend's Sega Genesis broke so I never got to play that.

Come to think of it, I have owned a classic game console, albeit portable...the GAMEBOY

What do you mean "automatically chipped"?

Basically means the console was already modified so that it could play US games, not just Jap games!

Oh I really loved my master system but I dropped the power supply on the floor and it stopped working, so I got a NES, didn't quite meet up but was still pretty fun.

Had to chip in here with all this old console talk. Is anyone aware of any emulation 'java' I suppose that will work on a Sony Ericsson w810i. Preferebly Nintendo or Sega. Just to finish a couple of points. Uk Genesis/Megadrive had two plastic tabs across where the cartridge was loaded that stopped American and Japanese cartridges fitting as they were a slightly different shape to try and stop imports. Back when it was a big thing to import a console months before it came out in UK. To make universal a hot knife and a steady hand was required to melt these tabs off allowing all cartridges to fit but invalidating your warrenty of course.;)
