Hi people..
im sorry if im supposed to put this in the "n80 problems" thread but it seems that no one is interested in that one any more..

anyway, i got a problem with my n80 and its getting quite annoying. my friend also has the same problem.
everytime i send a text message the "Sending Message" box pops up and stays there for about 20-30 seconds.. then it goes away and the phone freezes for 3 seconds and then it goes back to normal..
its such a hassle when im in a hurry or when im sending different messages to different people, i have to wait for a looong time.

i got my messages saved on the phone if that is any help.

anybody know how to fix this?

A friend of mine has this problem too... his N80 is really slow when sending messages. To think he's using the latest firmware already.

no solution yet for him too...

he already tried:

- bringing his phone back to factory settings
- putting in another sim from another carrier
- taking out the memory card
- putting the phone to gsm-mode only

* I think that the last one speeded up his phone by a few milliseconds - but it's still slow though.

yup... tried all the above too with no luck. and yeh, changing the Network Mode does speed it up a bit.

im not 100% sure but i dont think it was like this when i first got the phone.

This is just a guess. But are you sure it's not a virus? Or a result of a misbehaving program?

make sure you don't have too many programs running at once. also, is this mms or just text messages. some high kb messages take a long time to send when not using the lan.

its txt messages that take a long time..
also the only program running is the messaging program.

I have seen the same issue at another forum and they seem to have a solution that worked for someone! Anyways here it is and give it a shot, if it works great then!

1. Backup your phone contents which is at Tools > Memory > Options > Backup phone memory. to the memory card ofcourse

2. Switch off the phone.

3. Holding the
1)green key
2)the 3 key
3)the * key
together while switching on the phone. hold these keys until the phone asks you to select the city. (you might need 3 hands for this :P)

4. After you set the city and time, restore all your settings and data from the memory card

5. Test the phone...

Good Luck

Hi folks!
I'm new to this forum.
You can be sure, I have the same problem, and a whole lot more. I got my N80 May 18. but I have only had the phone in my hands a few weeks. most of the time it has been to the Nokia service shop, and still is.WLAN not working the way it suppose to, messages like, out of memory, no memory card. popping up. Phone freezes,Shutting down programs.and much more. Video is really bad, I'm not very happy. First time the service shop gave the phone a firware upgrade, from 3.0614-- to 3.0617--e when I got it back, I did'nt got time to check it out before the problems started again. I could'nt call out, or in, then I could'nt turn it off, took battery out/in for a restart, phone was dead. I have not seen the phone for two weeks. When/if I get it back I really hope that it works. I'm getting crazy about this, it cost me so muuuuch.
Until then, my old Siemens keep me going. Anybody else having these problems??, or is just me that got the one that should'nt been on the marked.

Why haven't you just out right returned it?? If you're going through this much trouble, you shouldn't have put up with it. Least of all, Nokia should have just given you a brand new handset period. You should insist on that!

there is also an SMS Accelerator for the N80 that can be downloaded from the nokia N80 support site, install this and most of your SMS problems will go away...

Cool - thanks im92109210, very good!

Is this the equivalent of resetting the phone to "as new" software - exactly the same as when you bought it? in other words the equivalent of "installing" the OS...?
