Why do phone companies decide to ruin otherwise great phones by putting their annoying logos or ugly new keys onto them? What is the point? It only puts people off the phones. Seems stupid to me.

The same thing happened with my new NK6600. I has the Vodafone logo plastered on the battery cover. And my Dad's Samsung V200 had the T-Mobile T-Zones logo where the wap key was.... Urgh
So yes I agree with you that they should stop ruining phones

I read somewhere that if you use a q-tip (cotton bud if you’re from England) with nail varnish remover you can gently rub off the offending logos. (I haven’t tried it myself however, so don’t blame me if it melts your phone!);)

How badly do O2 ruin phones? Is it just a small logo like Orange?

I don't think Virgin Mobile do, could be wrong though :)
WOW my beautiful country of South Africa does something that other countries/networks don't!!
We don't lock phones- used to but not anymore!! AND we don't put logos on phones- EVER. I can tell you that the people in my country are so stubborn they just won't buy the things if they come ruined!!!!:D :D GO south africa!;)
Generally O2 don't brand phones. The worst you're going to get is an O2 branded softkey (key for internet access). Start up and shut down screens are sometimes O2 (my z600 is) but just never turn it off and you're fine :-)
The exception to this is if you buy the O2 XDA 1/2 or O2 X1, X2 or probably X3.

I think changed keys are worse than logos. :(

Anyone have a picture of what an O2 phone looks like? Do they all have branded keys?

Thay have to put there mark on somewhere! wouldant be o2 if they didnt! although the blue button that they put on isnt too bad!
Orange dont do anything to the menu systems but they do put on start up shows, backgrounds and such.
