Just a poll :D
What's OEM?
OEM being Original Equipment Manufacturer
Non OEM thus being generic, not from that original manufacturer.

Nope, never even bought a replacement or extra battery for any of my phones either, always just used the one in the box for the duration I have the phone (usually a year or just over).

Gees louise - using non OEM is like jumping into oncoming traffic and hope nothing hits you..
No one seen the reports about non oems going bang melting faces etc ! if your going to spend £100+ on a mobile/data device get the real deal for those few extra pounds you could be saving your face, groin, clothes etc !

I've used non-OEM batts, although I totally agree with what 666joe said.
I've only got them as emergency spare (never had to use it yet)/to make old phones reuasable (as the original battery wont charge).

I'd personally avoid any essential parts purchases that aren't from a trusted source especially batteries, dvds, and software..
Just google exploding phone battery and hold your jaw before it hits the floor...

My google comes up with "Exploding NOKIA batteries"
Nokia is SUED over exploding batteries
lol and some threads from mobileburn about exploding batteries :p
....the stupid Nokia online shop is still not selling batteries...
Mobilefun seems to have a sale on BL-5C batts. Almost what some ebay traders are charging for non OEM.

Normally about 20-30 for original nokia batts.
imo, in the end, worth it for that little bit more security.

I use this kind of batteries on my old phones - those that have outlasted their original ones. My 3310 now lasts more than 5 days straight! lol :D

Abt exploding batteries, the one on my 6630 gets too hot to touch when I'm using it as modem for my PC (HSPDA). Continued use could deplete a fully charged battery in 2 hours.
Next time I go HSPDA, I think, I'll open the cover and put a little fan on it. Anyway, never used oems yet. The 6 mo old one on my 6630 could still last 4 days straight on moderate use, gaming, listening to music, etc.

idk I'm really REALLY tempted too because my apparently authentic (I haven't double checked it yet cause I don't know the website but there is a hologram in the back) BP-5L only lasts for literally hours...
So, I definitely shouldn't risk it? It's because the non-OEM ones are like $10 whereas the OEM ones are $50...BIG difference!!

Well you've only just bought your 9500 so I wouldn't risk wrecking it by having non OEM batt, even if it does save you $50.
It doesn't guarantee it won't explode in your face, but if you look af the brighter, greedier side, if it does, you'll know who to sue for compo.

Came down to either a 9500 or a 3250, I think he made the right choice.

congrats on your phone cct... that's a very nice phone. For myself, I find it a little on the 'bulky side' of things - but it does have nice features indeed.
cheers!

hahaha Thank you to everybody!:D It is definitely bulky, but I very much like it. I don't even miss the vibrate, although I guess that's because that's more because it isn't school anymore. In any case, I can't wait to get SmartMovie for it:D
Came down to either a 9500 or a 3250, I think he made the right choice. It was actually 9500 and 7710...the 3250 was only there just in case I really couldn't go away from S60. But I took your advice and got the hardkey-enabled 9500;) I realize how much of a pain it would've been the other day not to be able to text one-handedly with the 7710. It's a bummer not to have T9, but at least I can still text one-handedly:)
Back to topic, I've decided I think I'll just get the Nokia SC-23B...the official Battery Extender. Much cheaper than a completely new battery, and plus I can make use of our rechargeable AA batteries from our previous camera.
