I'm currently using a Nokia N90 but the camera quality is is terrible, my mother's k750 takes much better pics. That's why I want to switch to a sony ericsson with a good camera like the k750. The only thing keeping me from changing is the Pocket Oxford Dictionary I have on my N90, I use it every day. Is there a dictionary application available for any one of the SE phones that also has a good camera like the K750, W800 or W900? Thanks!

I wouldnt say quality is terrible on the N90, theyre very similar, and has won several imaging awards, cam phone shoot downs...but I agree with you though, at times I feel k750 does better, and its easier to as a point and shoot.
I'm not sure that there is a dictionary application as extensive as the ones available for S60.
If you want a phone that takes better photos than your N90 and has the potential to accomodate applications like that oxford dictionary application, you might want to consider waiting for the power house that is the Nokia N73 (maybe even the gigantic, N93)
Apparently some people have managed to get this app to work in their w800i phone.

it seems to be poorer than the oxford s60 version, and needs to connect to the internet to work.

thanks for the help! will try the link. yeah the n73 and n93 look great except for the fact that current Series 60 apps aren't compatible because of the newer version of symbian

Yup, but like I said, it has the potential for it, where as the W900, W800 will never be able to use it.
You might have to wait and buy the app again, but at least the option is there.

how could the camera on the N90 be terrible? it has the same amount of pixels as on the K750i and better off it has 20x digital zoom.
as for the dictionary software on the phone, i am not sure about it.

20x digital zoom the n90 has.. (haha.. yoda!!) ... DIgital zoom isnt even worth thinkg about using, let alone using it... the k750 seems to have better colour reproduction than the n90...

digital zoom is the devil's spawn. n90 while being a heavy device is also overall a decent shot taker.
check out f_alejandro's review from last year. try searching for it he had one of the best threads ive seen yet on this forum

Yup.
In Michael's cam phone showdown of N90 versus K750 he noted how it's very close between the two. Also about how N90 seems to produce better colours, K750 sharper photos.
I also prefer to have slightly sharper photos than better colour (but its very very close, and for the uses of that 2mp image, its negligable)

I think people will just find taking pictures on K750i easier..just a little point and shoot bar instead of Open, adjust, point and shoot
As for digital zoom, I think its the friend of those who do not send their images/videos to the PC or print (on the side of larger prints)
I think using a little digital zoom on say a 8mp cam and then printing out a 4"6" would be ok.

I ran my computer at 1280 x 960 resolution. And seeing 2mpix sample pics from k750 vs n90.. I don't notice the difference in sharpness at all if pic is made to fit screen. But n90 is alot better in color reproduction and not grainy at all compared to k750 pics. But I have to admit, k750 is indeed sharper, n90 ones looks digitally manipulated, even n91 is sharper than n90!, but it's hard to notice =)

Overall, n90 pics isn't at all that better than k750, in fact, like Jose said, some k750 pics are better. The carl zeiss only improved maybe a bit at most, but the sad fact is that carl zeiss is what made the phone so expensive...

Hey if your N90 need a generous, warm, loving and comforting home then I am will to adopt it for free out of the kindness of my heart

Personally I never saw any delay/issues with N90 that made it slower to take a picture than K750i.

Well if you're putting it in camcorder mode you need to position the screen. In the other mode (rotate camera only and use outer screen), there isn't much adjusting but, frankly, the outer display is crap as a viewfinder and when you take the photo you have no idea if it was in focus or not. The K750i is definitely faster to snap a photo with, and its auto-focus is a lot quicker. Whilst I'll be a bit sad to lose the N90, the K750i definitely isn't a bad phone to replace it with in the meantime.

Yeah, what deviant said :D.
Don't get me wrong, I much prefer the N90, but objectively it is ultimately slower for taking "just in the moment" pics. Especially from when both are off.

Yup, that's one of the cam tests I was referring to.
