Hi, Does anyone know if the Sony Ericsson T630 will be available on the Orange network in the UK? I wrote to Orange a few weeks ago with this query but so far have had no response.

Many thanks in advance.

I emailed them this:

Will the Sony Ericsson T630 be available on the Orange network? If so, when?
and they replied with this:

Thank you for your email about the Sony Ericsson T630.

Unfortunately this model is currently not available on Orange, but we are
constantly extending our range of phones and the following phones are at present
under review.

Thanks for the reply Recom.

Did you write to Orange quite recently?

Let's keep our fingers crossed that Orange decides to sell this phone soon.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that Orange decides to sell this phone soon. Yes, it was about 2 weeks ago - I doubt anything has changed since then. :(

I hope Orange gets this phone too!

I just found this on another forum.
Sony Ericsson and T-Mobile today announce an exclusive partnership that will see the launch of the T630 camera phone starting in early February. A fashionable black version of the stylish phone will be sold for a limited period exclusively through T-Mobile in its European markets (Germany, United Kingdom, Austria, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, and Poland). That explains why Orange don't have it yet. At least we know it should come out on Orange eventually.

Best idea if your in the Uk is go onto ebay and buy a T630 for around £230 sim free and unlocked. only takes 5 days to ship from hong kong. Worth the cash if you ask me. That way you can have it on any network, oh and you still get the 1 year warranty with it.

Thanx

James

I've ordered my T630 on Contract with T-Mobile details below:

Phone Price: Free

Monthly line rental: £29

Free xnetwork minutes: 200

i also get a free gift which is a portable cd/radio/tape player

better than falking out £230 for an import if you ask me. I'd never fully trust buying a phone from abroad.

yer deano, but after only 8 months you will have payed £240 which is £10 over a sim free fone and it wont even be yours. It'll take a least a year before the fone will be yours and there could be added costs that you don't even know about, like they could charge extra for messages on top..........also how long would the 200 free minutes last you could have to use them all within 1 month otherwise they would be wasted..........................just a thought.

I see where your coming from but i can see the justification of buying a sim free phone for 230 and then having to worry about how your going to make calls. At the end of the day, isn't that what a phone is for in the first place. It's not just the phone you have to look at but the cost of the calls too.

Im not sure how often your likly to make calls but will 200 mins a month for £29 a month and free T630 i think it better than paying £230 for a phone than paying 0.35p per min to make a call on PAYG which works out at £70 a month

It depends on how much you use yor fone to call people, I mostly text. But obviously a contract is the better way to go for you:)

Not surprised orange gave a vague reply about if the t630 was coming out on the network. I was told point blank by a bloke in the orange shop last month that they wouldnt be stocking the moto v600 and lo and behold its now out on orange contract!!
Just so happens its come out at the time of my contract renewal and I wanted another one so lucky me!

As for the t630 sim free/contract/payg?? Its supposed to be coming out on payg on t mobile any day now for £180 in the special liquid black colour (The sim free ones on e-bay are all in the frosty white colour). I suspect getting it unlocked will be a doddle as it will probably use similar software to t610? You are still stuck with the t mobile logo though! The black one looks very nice though.

God knows when Orange will get around to releasing the T630, they always seem to take the longest and change their minds about handsets too - a while ago both the P900 and Nokia 6600 were "coming soon" to Orange PAYG, then they both vanished, and now the 6600 is officially available again!
I remember last year when I decided to get a 3650, I was waiting for ages for it to come out on Orange as I'd always been with them and was happy with coverage etc; the phone was on their website saying "coming soon" and I even spoke to someone in an Orange shop and they told me that it was "imminent", but eventually I gave up and moved to 02 and got a 3650 from them on PAYG. It was a good decision in the end as I mostly text and have a good tarriff where I top up £10 a month and get 300 free texts and WAP minutes, and I was really pleased with the 3650 itself. To this day the 3650 has never appeared on Orange . . . so to be honest I'm not holding my breath for a T630 release anytime soon. Your best bet is probably to buy one sim-free and stick your Orange simcard into it.

The t630 isnt going to be released on orange as they feel it is to similiar to the t610. Se are releasing a few phones this year which will be more viable to test and to be sold on orange.
hope this helps.

hope this helps. Thanks. I'll wait and get the T650 as long as it isn't ugly. If it is ugly, goodbye SE.
