We heard rumors, but the offer has been made... Imagine, GSM being the #1 service in the USA....

I can't believe they want to pay...CASH...for AT&T Wireless. I work for an indirect dealer that deals with AT&T, Cingular, Verizon, Nextel and Spring, and that's gonna make things insane.

I think it would be the best. Especially here in Northeast PA. The GSM coverage around here sucks more than it is good, and the merger or buyout, whatever it may be, will make things much much better. They really need to work on coverage, especially in rural areas.

I agree - I am in Mass just a few inches from you (on a good map) :-D The coverage needs attentiion, though I am on Tmobile, they do have roam agreements with ATT up here.

TOTALLY AGREED.

I am directly between Wilkes-Barre and Scranton (Exeter, PA) when I'm not at school and I can't get a signal in my home. If I'm in the city, it is decent, but forget it if I go into the mall or a movie theater or anything.

GSM is what put the final nail in the coffin for AT&T. They spent so much money "building" it but in reality my GSM phone works exactly the same today as it did a year ago when I bought it.

Anyone know anything about the nuts and bolts of combining the networks, i.e. how long will it take, will new phones and/or sim cards be needed, etc.
