View Full Version : 6230 > 6230i?
I've had both these phones, i upgraded to a 6230i last year.
Basically, after much consideration i was wondering if anyone else is with me in thinking that the 6230 is actually better than its successor?
My old 6230 (that my bro now has) is quicker and the camera seems about as good. My 6230i doesnt have anything that makes it better, admittidly i guess it probably ironed out a few buys from its older brother, but the slowness of accessing menus and doing "general" things is just a pain.
Has anyone else noticed this, or should i just have sent my 6230i back!?

yeah! i thought so too when i first played around with the 6230i. the 6230i was noticeably slower in almost every way.
oh well, its probably because of the hi res screen.

The screen is very noticeable better.
The camera may appear about the same on the phone, but on a PC or printed out they are far far better.
The i version has 32MB internal memory versus whatever the tiny little ammount the earlier version had.
The newer version has a seperate centre button making it easier to press.
Thats about it, but a worthy upgrade it you like the 6230 and nothing else, although the 6230i is a cheap budget phone on contract now compared to some others, so might be worth shopping around for a better model.
thats true, on the computer the photos appear better.
However, it IS slower (dont care what anyone else says) and the middle button doesnt really help that much.
I'm glad i only paid £20 for the upgrade.

yup... maybe it's coz of the higher res screen.
cheers!

It is totally because of the higher resolution screen and the updated S40 OS. In terms of total pixels, the newer model is pushing nearly 2.5x as many as the old one (16,384 vs. 43,264) around and the processor is the same. In my opinion it is worth the speed decrease for the screen (higher resolution and larger), camera and centre button (which is essentially just a new keypad). Though I still fail to see why Nokia omit flashes on most of their camera phones, it should be an integral part these days, SE has been implementing them for a fair while now. The 6230 (and it's 'i' update) will go down as being a classic in terms of its simple design, light weight and form factor.

you can speed your phone up with a s/w update also if you have a large image as your background this will also slow down you phone,
you can also try to put folders within folders i.e.
"MUSIC folder"
then put ROCK, POP, DANCE in side this will make your phone run alot faster.
