i have a lot of software that run can run on my 6230i but i think the phone has allocated not more than 2mb of memory for this.

i have a 256 sd card but when i want to install a file larger than 1.5mb it just wont let me do it

any ideas on how i can change the size allocation. cos i know i have tried deleting other stuff but it didnt increase the allocation

You need to use PC Suite or MobiMB to transfer things to the phone. Just copying the JAR file won't work, it will appear as a question mark. I don't know why Nokia do that, SE phones are very intuitive, you can dump the JAR file anywhere and the phone will pick it up and offer to install it in the main memory (of which there is 40mb on the K750i) or the memory stick.

true but this is really annoying with nokia cos i still have more than 10mb of space and i cant seem to load a program of 1.5mb.

dont they realise i might want control over file alocation and space utilization?

anyways thanks

mmm... alternatively, you can take out the card, and use a card-reader and put files in there. Cant say that it's going to work though or if the phone will recognize it... but at least, your card can be used as a 'storage device' of sorts.

cheers!

Well I don't have any idea about your problem for now, but I really be glad if you send to me a website that offers softwares for Nokia 6230i because i search a lot and i didn't find anyone

^^ No it wont work Nokia series 40 is designed in a way tht j2me applications can only run from phone memory and they have fixed tht memory space. so thers really no way to install any more appz other than on the provided memory.
and about installing more than 1.5mb, No it shudnot work either. if u have gone through the phone specs it says j2me appz upto 512 kb or somethin like tht is allowed.

This sounds about right. On the 6230i I had, when it reached 1.5mb of installed Java apps on the phone (you can't put them on the card to my knowledge) it wouldn't accept any more.

The Java stack size is 512Kb but I don't think this determines how big a file you can install.

Is one limitation of a non "smart" phone. The card is more for gallery things.
