I'm as confused as I can be.. I've read forums, reviews, previews... Every single thing to help me out... But I can't make my mind... Which phone is better,
MOTOROLA V600 VS. NOKIA 6230
Please help me, if you want to do a detailed review.. Good. If you want to compare specs... Ok, but I'm looking especially for experiences with the Motorola V600, since it looks good on specs, but a lot of disagreements about it are going around. Can't wait for Michael's review... The only reason I find not to buy the Nokia 6230 is the small screen... that's far from the Motos 176 x 208 (or is it 220... ?)
So please help me out, I'd really appreciate that.. Thanks in advance, BYE!

i ve got a v600 and its a great phone, but while checking out the 6230 it really does look quality, its got all the features and memory expansion. but i dont know anyone who has one so i cant really comment. id probably go for the 6230 by spec alone.

So you're telling me that the Nokia 6230 is better as far as specs go... Have you had any problems or issues with the Motorola V600? What can you tell me about the Nokia's screen... I say it's rather small... Do you know any V600 Review? Because people really disagree, according to what I've read...

Get the v600, it is the dogs b*ll***s!! Screen size is excellent and very good too. Camera also very good. Bluetooth works effortlessly and the ringers are great, esp the mp3 ones. And more to the point it is gorgeous and kicks the ugly 6230 into touch as regards looks!! Get a v600...you will not be dissapointed!

The Internal Memory of the V600 is 5MB and is not expandable.
Nokia 6230 memory is of 6MB and expandable through MMC Cards (32 MB Card included)

I personally dont like flip-style phones, I break them. When they start constructing them out of Titanium, then perhaps I will go back. I love the looks and spec of the (series 40 platform 2.0) of the Nokia 6230 and may puchace as a second pocket phone to my T-Mobile Sidekick (data only).

Dear friend,
I've been in this confusion as well. (not with the nokia 6230, but with other phones). my conclusion will be always v600.
Ever since the v60 came out. it attarackted IMMENSE attention not only for the looks, but also for the features which it offered.
motorola introduced the v600 which CAPS v60 by far. not only with looks, but also with functionality. video, mp3 ringtones, vga camera etc.
also remember, you are comparing a FASHION phone with a SMART PHONE.
smart phones are meant to be big and chunky but making up with fantastic functions.
however the v600 doesn't lack functionality, its quite big on it actually.
if i were you, i would decide my choice based on these:
1) do you care more about style or function? (dont say both, u must have one that is more)
2) the pricing
for me. this is how i rated both of them:
Motorola v600:
Style: 10/10
Functionality: 8/10 ( comon you cant compare with the japan phones out there that have sd card slot, AUTOFOCUS, 2MP CAMERA, TV etc. all in a package smaller than most phones nowadays )
Nokia 6230:
functionality: 9/10
Style: 1/10 (im sorry but this phones U-G-L-Y)
THE SCORE:
motorola: 18/20
Nokia 6230: 10/20
I truly hope you decide someday
:)
P.S i would buy the v600 just based on looks.

if u are looking for features then go for the nokia
we have a review of the v600 at www.mototone.co.uk (site is down for maintenance at the mo)
but on spec i would go with nokia
i've used for v600 for a long time and its a great phone but still lacking in some important areas
but then again until someone uses this new nokia - who knows?

but im kind of sick of flip phones and im looking for a phone that can play mp3s so if the 6230 is anygood id get the 6230
you cant really compare the v600 to the 6230

I must say that Nokia 6230 is not a smartphone... It has the features of a smartphone, but it isn't a smartphone.. I must say it's not big (it's smaller than my actual Nokia)... Ugly... I don't think so, look at the combination of Black & Silver... And you'll know what's good... Still, the V600 definitely beats in the looks.
I already made my decision... Other teen helped me out in another forum... Nokia 6230 is the best as far as functionality goes and has a good looking factor for me... It has got everything! I won't buy it, though, if the price is ridiculously high...
The V600 is wow... Really cool looking.. But falls short in functionality and I have read that a lot of issues are present... If you'll buy a phone just based on the looks... I won't.. I need a phone that can really back up it looks...
Still............................. I think I'm undecided... I haven't made my absolute decision yet... I really like the V600 looks... But the functions turn me off from buying it...

It all depends on your usage of the phone. i mean, do you only use your phone for calls and messaging? or do you use more of the internet features, or maybe it's the camera that draws you in? personally i feel that you should select a phone that YOU feel is the best regarding WHAT YOU DO/ACCOMPLISH.
Personally, i think the v600 hardly lacks in functionality. yes you could add a mmc/sd card slot, but then it would probably be bigger. also remember this, motorola has added the ATI imageon mobile phone video processor into the v300, v500 and v600 series. they enable you to view the viewfinder at a rate of 15 frames persecond which is pretty decent if you ask me ( the sendo x is big and chunky, and claims at 30 fps, but it is a smart phone )
hmmm..sendo x...if it were smaller....it would be great....like the v600 (haha not meaning to start a new thread :) )

yep i agree
gotta remember the v600 is a clamshell phone too
not many clams on the market that have bluetooth too
v600's is the best of the clamshell in terms of features
not taking into account how well the features work (Ie Z600 phone book and bluetooth facility is better than v600)
but yes v600 is a great phone for a the basics
now if u need extras like to play mp3s and all that then maybe the nokia is for you but come on... do u really need to pplay mp3's on your phone... isnt that what an IPOD is for?
personally i cant think of a real good feature thats missing from the v600 apart from IRDA
can u?

I agree with Tiger,
Nowadays, Cellphones aren't really made for the purpose of what they were meant to do: communicate wirelessly by voice. i mean now if you look at the smartphones out there, you can get a phone that could handle basically everything from handling your spreadsheets, to dling porn, to even starting your car ( if your car is bluetooth enabled ). mp3, like explained previously, should be played by an ipod, or a sony network walkman. taking pictures would be better on a REAL digital camera (though some of the japanese camera phones from j-fone such as the sharp v60ish w/ 2mp autofucos camera arent TOO far away). Video recording would be better done on a cacorder, while surfing through the net would be better done through a pda or notebook. as you can see, im trying to draw the conclusion that although the cellphone is tieing everything together, each of the functions are "amateurs" of what its supposed to do. but then again, who wants to carry all the separate equipment that could just be found on a phone that weighs next to nothing?
:)
V600 not as good as everybody things
6230: slow, and for a nokia its very slow. its good at all, i thought it was gonne be not good and not bad, but its worse!

bart, how is the v600 not as good as everyone thinks? We need information.
its feels like plastic. not strong plastic but breaky breaky plastic. screen is good but not as bright as some phones like Z600, E700
the phone it self, abit slow and the menu, is still like moto and i don't like that the things that you could do, hmm missing an irda wich still alot of people use to connect to there computer. games are very nice like also sound was quit good, RF good like we are use 2 get from moto the antenna buts me abit but i think you can get use to that. but overall its not as good as it i thought. it misses something a feeling like hey i've got a nice phone, a feeling you get form SE, samsung or even some nokia phones

Sorry but I must disagree with you. How can you say that the v600 feels like cheap plastic when its outers are made of metal and the rest is very strong hard plastic. Feels and looks expensive! And as for the phone...its a cracker. Must be the best looking phone that I have ever seen and after using one for a month or so I think its the best that I have seen and I have used quite a few of the new ones. Anyway, who needs infra red when you have bluetooth...this is the 21st century!! The menu is different to nokias yes, but quite intuitive if you take ten minutes to familiarise yourself with it and you can customise it in many ways. Nokias are still living on their 1998 menu system...it seems outdated to me and struggles to cope with more modern applications. And who is designing their phones? Someone who needs sacking if you ask me! They are getting a bit ugly for my liking! v600 rocks.....and the mp3 ringtones are fantastic. BUY THE V600!!

EXACTLY. how could you say that the v600 is cheap? do you even know what material it is made out of? (adonized aluminum brushed) the v600 is the ultimate phone for the designer, professional, and phone fetish freak. it combines everything that is out there in a sleep package. sure, it doesn thave the same sepcs as the japanese 1x ev-do and umts phones out there on the 3g network, but this is because motorola took a balance. and cheap? i dont hink so. the look and feel of the motorola v600 has a distinctive "high class" to it. not only that, if you compare pricing from japan headsets that are more in camera and display. you will notice that the motorola quad band phone is far more superior both in quality and price.

The V600 did not feel cheap to me, either.

v600 alll the way man.
motorola truly done it this time.
purelly crazy phone. stylized to the MAX.
strange that the one i hold felt like 100% plastic and it wasn't a dummy phone. desing is one thing, some like it othere don't, that up for them to deside, specs are good, but for some reason i don't like it, maby the phone i tested was an old prototype or something cause it was slow 2. for me there are better phones out there...

wouldn't it be good if you had a phone which was the same size as the v600 and design, and ran the symbian os and other functions of smartphones such as expandible memory etc.
that would be my ideal phone.
btw - i have a v600 and its doesnt feel cheap at all. The camera is just as good, if not better than a sx1 (i compared with my flatmates sx1) and the java games are the same quality as the nokia 7650. Sure it cant play full episodes of the simpsons or play ngage games but at least no one will say to you is that a "breeze block in your pocket............." - or is that a good thing :)
