Hi there.

I have had my XDA for a while now, and i did a lot of research into it before i bought one. I knew that you could prevent the crashing of the device by removing the O2 software, but this removed the bettery meter from the screen which i really like. SO i opted for upgrading the ROM. i have now done this, and its the 4.0 version i think. This has fixed the crashing completely but my GPRS and Wi-Fi has gone hay-wire!

I have a home network, and i could previously surf the net on this no problem, but now, wherever i am, it wants me to log in to a Network Log In with the username 'O2web' and it wants a password and domain name.

The thing is, even if i entered the password n domain etc, would this mean that i am paying GPRS fees for using my Wi-Fi network, cause having the integrated Wi-Fi is the reason that i dont want to use GPRS.

Any help would be greatky appreciated.

Thanks

The orignal O2 firmware isnt crappy, reinstall it then install the various packages that you might need. If you still face problems pm me or shun.

Some ROMs for IIs have WiFi problems, try using "good" ROM from the advises of the users at www.xda-developers.com

Following are 2 links I found by searching with "ROM IIs WiFi" and "Search for all items":-

Yeh ok, i was trying to avoid switching ROM's or doing hard resets because i dont want to lose any of the software and settings i have for my phone.

Any idea what this network key log on thing is all about?

I need a domain name and a password.

Any1 else have these kinda problems?

Cheers

There are a few area that may needs authentication, mainly GPRS connection, WiFi connection and proxy server logon.

It likely that you are using using a firmware with WiFi faults, so you could be forced to connect to GPRS. If this is the case, you will have to flash the firmware again or check with the support of your provider.
