I got my v600 a few days ago from an O2 shop and the phone really is a big step on for Motorola. I've traded from a 8910i and I was worried the phone would feel and sound cheap after the classy Nokia, but I love everything about it.

I have one problem - the volume button on the side of the phone is used to let you change the style (profile) when the phone is closed. This is really handy as you can set the phone to silent with just a couple of presses, and you don't have to open the phone. BUT the button makes such a loud bleep noise when pressed (if you are in the Loud style), it makes it pointless if you are trying to subtly change the phone to silent (e.g. if you are in a cinema). What is it that sets the style/volume of this button?

Thanks,

Nick

Having worked with other Motorola phones that have this feature....I have never seen anything that dictates the volume of that key. It's like that on my girlfriend's V300, was that way on the V66, V60, etc.....

I think you are right. I've played with the settings a bit more. It looks like the ring volume level is used for the volume of this button too. It does look like there is no way of having a loud ring, but silent button. This is a really stupid oversight, and a shame as everything else on the phone is pretty well thought out.

You are right, it's based on the ring volume. You can test this by switching from loud to soft, and seeing how the button makes different sounds based on that.
