my 8800 has a camera problem. when i switch to camera mode there is no view finder. it always says camera on standby. wt is wrong with my phone? thnks

um... try to reset the phone back to its default factory settings, that might help?

This happens on Symbian phones when the slide (if you have one on the phone) is closed. This is what happens on the 7650, 6680 and N70 (amongst others). Therefore, I suspect the phone thinks it is closed or something similar to that, i.e. the switch is damaged or faulty. It is a new phone so you'd do best to take it back to a Nokia Service Centre - I think Nokia have 2 years warranty on some phones. Resetting it might work but this is a Series 40 phone and the OS on those is quite locked-down and hard to corrupt.

tryd resetin it.nothn hppnd. i askd a dealer of 8800 here in our country he said it might be the "ribbon of the phone" he also said that when sliding the phone. do it really really slowly. also when closing it. damn ppol in nokia...

So Nokias fix is to do it sloooooowly ? hmmmm not fit for the purpose it was sold....demand a repair or even better an exchange and don't take no for an answer !!!

yup.. they said it has a 1 yr warranty will check on nokia soon..

Every new handset should carry a warranty (grey imports are iffy) some even have 2 depedning on fault...

Hammer it and seriously do not take no for an answer..
