Anybody knows what will be the next 7710?
There was a previous annoucement by nokia that they will eventually merge S90 with S60. Will this sitll happen? When?
The 7710 is not so bad, I personnaly liked the interface and the theme, but it seriously lacked wi-fi. However, imagine if it is thiner, weights less, higher res and finally has wi-fi and if possible bt 2.0+edr, and more software support, specially for games, then it could compete with UIQ, PPC, palm, and even against PSP!

I believe S90 was integrated (or is intended to be) with S60 v3. This is what I have read and posted before - last year maybe. Who knows what the deal is now, but I am definately interested in N77** devices and the S90 platform.. though, is there a use/need for it now that S60/v3 is out there? Seems there is a dim line seperating the two.

It does everything except make calls (or connect to GPRS/EDGE/UMTS or whatever). The huge advantage of that approach is that you can use a normal phone without having to lug something the size of Belgium about everywhere.
Don't get me wrong, I admire the 7710 but ultimately it's a seriously flawed device - no WiFi and no 3G are the most serious things missing. I can't see that it would be too difficult to fit these into the 7710 - but the product has been on the market since late 2004 and surely we would have seen an upgrade by now if there was ever going to be one.

VOIP is an option that Nokia was supposed to supply at the beginning of this year. I do hope its still coming - if I missed it, oops.
Who cares what you connect to, to make a call? Communication in general is the key.. maybe a Vonage softphone will work ;)

if they just add the wi-fi, with or without the 3g, then 7710 would have more followers specially among gadget freaks and techno geeks, perhaps even the mainstream, well a small portion probably...
