Hi All,
I am ready to upgrade the 'ol phone and need some advice.
Basically what I need is:
*Bluetooth (or the ability to add it via expansion)
*Check Pop3 email (would be great if could check multiple accounts)
*Web browsing (xhtml variant...not WAP)
*Colour Screen
*Java capabilities (so I could run apps like VNC etc)
*Ability to play an mp3 snippet as a ringtone
The thing is, money is an issue for me (shocking). As of now, I don't see the point in spending £325 for the P900, when I can get a used P800 on Ebay for about £125.
What does everyone think? I am also thinking about the Treo as it seems to handle the above but at much less cost. Though I am concerned about the lousy screen.
Thanks,
Geoffrey
P900 is like a total new level of a P800
i know its alot of money but trust me, and trust everybody when they say that once you've had a SE Pxxx phone you'll never want something else

I have the P900 and upgraded from the P800. I can tell you that the P800 and P900 are significantly different to warrant the price. The p800 does not, as far as i am aware, allow you to use mp3 snipets to play as a ringtone. P900 certainly does. P900 allows you to set up multiple accounts for email retrieval, and has a relatively good schedule option.
I cannot comment on the Treo, because i have never had one. A Friend just bought it, but it does not have BT and as of now, there has not been an expansion slot add on released yet.
The other advantage to teh P900 is that it allows for online upgrades when new softeware is released, making the phone a complete package in my mind. Taking off the key pad also makes is considerably slimmer than the treo, not to talk about the P800.
Hope some of this information lends you a hand in making a decision

Thanks all,
Sadly I am nowhere near figuring out what I should do. P800's on Ebay are strangley cheaper than the Treo's. I wonder if I should hold off on upgrading until the newer models come out (which should drive the P900 down in price I hope). The best carrier offer for the P900 is well over £100 cheaper than my present provider (Vodafone).
Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with T-Mobile in the UK?

I'd get the P900 or the P800.
I played with the Treo600 and whilst it was nice, its battery life is a little on the short side and for my liking the device was too wide. Its keyboard leaves a little to be desired too, its too fiddly and I've got rather thin fingers.
As mentioned it also doesn't have BT built in.
And as far as MP3 for ringtone goes, whilst P800 doesn't support it it does allow WAV files which are easy to convert to from MP3.
P800 is a great cheap option, but if money is not an issue then opt for the P900 (this phone blows all its competitors out of the water!).
As far as T-Mobile goes, I wouldn't bother, they are rather expensive and offer lousy customer service! At one point my whole family was with T-Mobile but now we have all left as they have been so crap.
I'm with o2 Online which is good for all the cheap/free text messages and wap/mobile internet I get however coverage isn't so good in a lot of places.
Orange seem really good now, with cheap calls & messages, good service and some decent coverage available.

Thanks for the advice, I have always been weary of T-Mobile ever since they were One-to-One. If what I am reading from everyone's comments are correct, the general gist seems to be that:
if money is no object, get the P-900. Clearly the best phone on the market for what I need.
if money is a bit tighter, then get the P-800. A decent second option until the phones come down in price.
Thanks everyone! Now I just need to bide my time until payday. :)
