My friend just purchased a 6600 outright, is on Vodafone AU, and can't get MMS or WAP over GRPS to work at all. Voda have sent him the settings many times, whenever he calls support they tell him something different, and even on other network's SIM cards it doesn't work. And he's tried the settings from the Nokia web site. He's had the firmware upgraded, and took the first handset back, now he's on his second one.
NOTHING works. Is he missing something?
Thanks in advance guys.

Does Voda support MMS over TCP/IP yet? If not then that's why it wont work.

hey i got the settings sent to me from optus except it didnt work either so i fiddled around with it for ages and finally got mine working
i found out that they hadnt given me the primary server IP and port which u find when u go into Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Access Points > (whichever settings u have, i have Optus MMS GPRS and yesinfo WAP) > Options > Advanced Settings
check to see whether the Primary Name Server, Proxy Serv. Address and Proxy port number are blank. If they are then you will have to ask them for that.
hope that helps

my brother inlaw bought a 6600 a few weeks back and returned it because the 6600 hasnt been approved on voda, optus or telstra networks, however stores are still selling them.
telstra, voda and optus put mobile through stringent tests to make sure they work with their networks properly.
there have been a few nokia phones that have been knocked by telstra because when they dialup to the internet, they dont dial 000 properly and it will never connect.
tell him to take it back, or hell just have to wait for it to be approved

One guy at a Telstra shop told me that Telstra tests phones for 6 months before selling them to make sure everything works fine, I dont know whether to believe that, come on, who needs 6 months of testing!!! You'd surely be able to tell if its all working fine within a couple of days! He also said that Vodafone gets phones first, cos they dont test them, or perhaps not to the extent of Telstra!

The 6600 should be network tested, they're going to be branded Voda live! handsets. I guess he's just lucky he bough one before they were all branded and the software altered.
Even if they haven't made settings for it yet, they soon should do because it'll be Voda live.
