Can't get pc suite working with 6600

Hi i was wondering if anyone can help me figure this problem out that i have.
I just bought a bluetooth dongle and have installed all the software and my PC is connecting fine with my Nokia 6600.
I installed PC Suite for Nokia 6600 and it keeps telling me to connect my phone to the PC.
I have tried selecting all of the com ports in mrouter and none of them work.
There also seems to be another thing on my taskbar called Nokia Connection Manager asking me to choose com ports aswell except when i pick a comport with mrouter i cant pick the same one with nokia connection manager.

If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

hey thanks mate, im not sure if you've tried it ubt im upto
step 3: Manually make a serial connection to the Series 60 Handset to get the mRouter connection started

the part where it says to select the phone and click connect and that box should come up saying its connecting.
when i click connect it says "Service Bluetooth Serial Port is not found on Nokia 6600"

ive followed all of the steps but that seems to be where the problem is because it can't find any services to the phone. :(

jas, just a thought, but have you tried searching for other devices from the 6600?

hey nah i dont have any other devices for it to search for but i got it working, seems it was a problem with the bluetooth software that came with the dongle, it wouldnt search for any services with the 6600.

i downloaded this freeware software which is quite good actually and it found my 6600 and found services and allowed me to use pc suite. only problem is its evaluation and wont let ya send big files so im kinda still stuck when i want to send big video clips or games or something like that.

does anyone else have some good bluetooth software and a link to where i can download it from?

I am having a similiar problem.

I couldnt get the thing to connect at all although I was able to send files to the 6600 using the Bluetooth connection softeware which came with the dongle.

The way I got around it was by disabling the internal modem in the laptop. Setting up the Com Ports and getting it to find it through M-Router. It then detected it first time, once all OK, I re-enabled the internal modem

All sorted.

Only problem I have now is that I am able to connect through the PC Nokia Suite by using Bluetooth but it doesnt want to transfer files. I'm still trying.

PC Suite Installation. Make sure You have a clean computer system. Microsoft Active sync Nor palm Hot sync can be running on your system when the bluetooth adapter and pc suite are installed. they must be disabled so that they do not start on boot up. Any additional sync software for digital cameras may also cause problems with both the Widcomm software that is included with most bluetooth adapters and the pc suite installation. As of right now, the best BT adapters to use are Belkin, D link, TeComm, and SocketCom. Stay away from the Ambicom BT adapter. Some people have been able to get it to work but earlier versions require the software and drivers from one of the above mentioned adapters. Later versions may work, but require manipulation of the the com ports for the Serial port profile service. If you install things in the following order you should have no problems. 1. Install BT widcomm software that comes with the adapter. Pair the BT adapter with the phone using the software, not the phone to do this. install pc suite Including the Nokia connectivity SDK. Reboot the computer. From the widcomm software, go to my BT places and click on the icon for the phone serial port service. It will attempt to establish a connection with the phone. At this time the phone should beep. Press yes to accept the connection. You will receive a message on the computer stating that this device uses com zero, please configure all applications to use com zero. click Ok and you will most likely receive an error message stating that the connection failed, the remote device closed the connection. This is ok and normal. At this point the Mrouter icon in the system tray should turn from grey to yellow and green. Give it a few minutes sometimes this takes time. If nothing occurs, then a few addtional steps may be required. Go to the Bluetooth configuration icon that should have installed itself in your computer's control panel and open it. You should see an icon for hardware, click on it. You ahould see several tabs two of which are named local services and client application. take note of the com ports that are being used by the serial port profile connection. Make sure that the client application com port is at least one higher that the local services com port. Open the Mrouter icon on the system tray. Make sure that those two com ports are selected. There should also be another icon located in the system tray named the Nokia connection manager. Open this and you should see icons for several different connection methods across the top. Clicking on them selects and de selects them. make sure the only one selected is the blue diamond to the far right. If you followed these steps you should see the Mrouter change colors and you should be able to connect to pc suite. If you still cannot, try rebooting your computer and Re establishing the serial port profile connection through the BT software. If this still does not work, adjust the com ports in the local services and client application tabs to higher com ports respectively. always make sure that the client application com port is one higher that the local services. If this still does not work, you were never meant to use that phone with bluetooth anyway. Last minute words of wisdom. If you have a laptop, make sure you are not using a docking station or port replicator. Do not use a USB hub with the BT dongle. If you have a choice, use the usb ports in the back of the computer, not the PCI to usb ones in the front or side. Win 95 and any UPGRADED version to win 98 will cause problems. If you have win ME, quit being cheap and upgrade that machine, ME is horrible. Mac users: Im sure you've heard it before, It ain't gonna work, get used to it, stick to music and graphic design.

I have just bought the 3Com BT USB dongle and had a nightmare. I get the phone to connect using the BT software but connecting to the PC Suite is hit and miss.

The biggest problem is once I am connect via BT, the connection speed is really slow. It is quicker for me transfer files to the phone through InfraRed than it is using Bluetooth. Has anyone else seen this ?

I have gone into COM Port settings and increased the baud rate to Max but still nothing. Any ideas anyone ?

What can i say ?! Nokia PC Suite is quite a good software, but i don't think that the Bluetooth module installed in the Nokia phones is compatible enough. I had problems with 6310, while i hadn't with R520m, later i had problems with 7650, while i hadn't with P800.

So does it mean that the Bluetooth on the 6600, 3650 and 7650 is useless? Can they communicate with other Bluetooth enabled mobile phones? :confused:
